About this ebook

During the 2011 season, Tim Tebow, led the Denver Broncos on an improbable playoff run that cumulated with a breathtaking overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

One month later, John Elway, Bronco legend turned General Manager and President of Football Operations, stunned the pro football world by signing Payton Manning and trading Tim Tebow away to the New York Jets.

Fast forward to the summer of 2013 and Tebow found himself again a man without a team. The New England Patriots became the third organization to trade or outright release the embattled signal-caller.

His detractors say he’s finished. His fans say he’s only getting started.

Gary Sapp finds himself allied with Tebow’s critics. He paints an unflattering but fair picture of a player who struggled to improve as a passer because of his poor mechanics and his inability to read NFL defenses.

The question, however, still remains. Has the NFL seen the last of the former Heisman Trophy Winner? Or did John Elway save us from Tim Tebow?

Q: Alright, Sapp, what’s your latest gripe?

A: Three simple words: Tebow. Tim. Tebow. Never in the history of the NFL has an athlete been more celebrated for accomplishing less and looking so dysfunctional while he’s doing it. Even now, at the mid-point of September 2013, nearing a month from his release from the New England Patriots, we’re still bombarded with report after report about this guy’s plans and whereabouts. He’s getting more media attention than players who have earned NFL roster spots.

Q: Hold on, buddy. No matter what you, I, or anyone else thinks of him, ultimately Tebow is a winner and beloved by many football fans. John Elway screwed up big time when he traded him to the New York Jets.

A: I almost question the validity of your first statement, challenge you on the latter half, and question your sanity on the rest. This is the heart of my thesis in choosing to publish this article. Not only did Elway, a two time Super Bowl winning Hall of Fame Quarterback, and now General Manger and President of Football Operations, do the right thing by ridding himself of Tebow, he saved hardcore football fans from Tebow Mania. Elway wasn’t directly responsible for the fiasco that Tebow’s time in New York was. He certainly didn’t trim Timmy off of the roster in New England a few weeks ago. What he did do is set in
