About this ebook

After a very powerful Specter materializes within the Thornton Police District taking people’s lives as prisoner spirits for its sick pleasure of terrible torment all attempts at Exorcism fail miserably. Clairvoyants, White Witches, Parapsychologists and the local Police Inspector all join forces then to find a method to eradicate it. They then find this Evil Entity almost as powerful as the Devil itself.
This Specter had so far caused the deaths of some twenty people. The modus–operandi it had used was always very similar. A lone driver late at night would suddenly find this Specter sitting next to them obviously seen in its most terrifying form causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash causing their death.
The only reason this was known was after a very high rate of unexplained local area single fatal vehicle crashes there had been a lone survivor. At first police were highly skeptical at the shocking story they were told by the driver at the scene, however after their own crash investigators eventually found there was no environmental explanation or vehicular fault causes for the high rate of fatal crashes in any of the cases they wondered if there just might be some truth in it? It did explain a lot if what the surviving driver said was in fact true. All drivers had either unexplainably run off the road into trees or rolled their vehicles after swerving madly as if trying suddenly to desperately escape.
Three Clairvoyants that had been called in previously with some success in looking into old unsolved crimes of murder in the area before closing the books on these crimes were again called in by the local Police Inspector to hopefully track this Specter down, find out who, or what it was and why it was so intent on murder of people who appeared to be total strangers of each other. Had any of these people done anything to it when it was human? That’s if it ever was human. Why was it taking lives in the Thornton District?
Contact then by the Clairvoyants of a victim’s spirit at a crash site leads them via visions to an old derelict Manor where further investigations find the very powerful presence of the Specter in its lair.

    CHAPTER 1

Just how do you eradicate a very powerful Specter when attempted area exorcism by very experienced exorcists and the use of every other generally long accepted medieval methods fail? That this particular Specter needed to be eradicated was beyond question, but how?

This apparition had caused the deaths of some twenty people so far and to make matters even more difficult there didn’t appear to be any recognizable motive or even a connection between the victims to help protect future potential victims.

At first police were highly skeptical at the shocking story they were told by the driver at the scene, however after their own crash investigators eventually found there was no environmental explanation for the high rate of fatal crashes on what were perfectly straight and generally accepted safe roads along with no vehicular faults found in any of the cases they wondered if there just might be some truth in it? It did explain a lot if what the surviving driver said was in fact true. All drivers had either unexplainably run off the road into trees or rolled their vehicles after swerving madly as if trying suddenly to desperately escape.

Thornton Police District where this high fatal road toll was occurring had in the past used three very well known Clairvoyants with extremely high ESP to look into old unsolved crimes of murder in their area just to see if they could after being taken to the scene perhaps give the police further leads that they may have overlooked as a last chance before closing the books on these crimes. The thought came about eventually after all possibilities of just how to stop the current vehicle fatalities situation had been exhausted and after much discussion to perhaps use them again in these cases. This situation was really outside of normal police procedures or training. Just how do you go about arresting a Specter?

Use of the Clairvoyants and any successes in the past leading to arrests had been approximately 15 percent. Not high by any measurement but at least the odd case was finally solved. Why these Clairvoyants had successes in those instances and drew blanks on others they themselves had no perfect explanation. It appeared perhaps the Victim really needed to want justice done so bad they managed to stay in limbo and make contact. Other Victims perhaps were overly forgiving and were enjoying their new found euthenics state.

Now that the cause of the fatal crashes appeared to be the sudden appearance of a Specter then perhaps these Clairvoyants could track it down, hopefully find out who, or what it was and why it was so intent on murder of people who appeared to be total strangers of each other. Had any of these people done anything to it when it was human? That’s if it ever was human. Why was it taking lives in the Thornton District?

Then after calling the Clairvoyants in with the plan of taking them to every one of the fatal vehicle crash sites and giving them a free hand to perform their expertise all had become highly agitated and suffered psychological stress at the very first site visited! None wanted to continue with the quest after that as they felt their normal resistance to paranormal activity was no longer protecting them in this instance.

While in a sense not usually being afraid of the Spirit World this was a whole new experience for them all. They had experienced the terrible feelings of being close to pure evil! Their collective advice then was to go straight to exorcism at each site to try and at least clean up the invisible powerful aura that remained after such pure evil had been there. This powerful contamination would have to be cleaned up first before they could continue.

The situation then was getting beyond policing and the Inspector in charge of the Thornton Police District really didn’t know which way to turn or proceed on the matter. He was already doing his best not to alarm the public by keeping the whole scenario under wraps with all Police Officers and anyone like the Clairvoyants they had used sworn to secrecy. Even the Victim that had survived the ordeal had been sternly warned not to cause public panic with his story. To appease him the Inspector told him that they did in fact believe what he had told them and required his help on the matter. They had taken it seriously and were working on it. Needless to say the surviving Victim would not be using any vehicles for a long time if ever.

A call on the local Priest didn’t produce any luck as he was strictly of the belief of his Order that exorcisms were antiquated rituals of the past and had no real place in today’s modern World or Church. Yes he did believe in the Devil, but not as any Specter that might suddenly appear out of thin air. If it were the case then he was sure as a local Man of God such a Specter if real would have appeared before him long ago to test his faith.

One of the Clairvoyants then came to the rescue knowing a team of claimed Exorcists that she had met after visiting a very sick young girl and detecting what she felt was another spirit being dwelling within her. After this team of exorcists was called in by the girl’s mother they had visited on several occasions performing rituals and the girl got better. Also the Clairvoyant could no longer detect any other spirit being within her. While the exorcist team was not in the sense religious via the Church they had very strong beliefs in White Witchcraft. She would from that previous experience of success by them contact them and ask for their help on behalf of the police.

When contacted they were only too pleased to assist and they were taken to the sites of the fatal vehicle crashes to practice their expertise in the general area.

The exorcist team made up of four White Witches, tightly bound together bunches of dried sage with string and after setting one end alight they stubbed out the flame so only smoldering caused heavy smoke. The team then in silence proceeded to sweep the surrounding ground in ever decreasing circles with the smoking sage till all the fatal crash area was covered. Then that part of the ritual complete they cast dried crushed bay leaves and flowers of thistles about the surface of the area while chanting a final cleansing mantra. It wasn’t in the true sense an exorcism, but would have the effect they strongly believed of cleansing the crash sites as asked for.

After this was done the Clairvoyants again visited the first fatal crash site to test out just how effective the exorcist team had been. To their relief it was much better for them and while there was still a lingering tinge of bad smells mentally sensed it was at least tolerable. They then tried for contact with the spirit of the person killed in the crash. They had no luck at all after using all the expertise they had at this first fatal crash site. The only thing they could do was to move on to other fatal crash sites and keep trying.

For a while it seemed as if the same results were going to occur at all the fatal crash sites and then there was a breakthrough. One of the Clairvoyants managed to get contact with the spirit of the person killed at that particular spot. It was at first a fleeting contact like from a person so scared they would disappear from contact then come back as if totally unsure of themselves and the Clairvoyant. Trust had to be earned till finally the spirit stayed around and the other Clairvoyants were then able to sense the presence also. They already knew this spirit’s earthly name; Anne Smith, a Doctor’s Receptionist, 24 years old, single, of 101 Citrus Lane, Thornton. All gleaned from the road death records and that had helped somewhat to become more familiar with this spirit.

Then asking Anne Smith what she had seen causing the crash instantly had her disappear from contact. All they could do then was to keep calling her name till finally she returned. She did not want to describe what she had seen only repeating one word continuously; Evil! Evil! Evil!....

Further questioning then on whether she knew where she was currently gave them all mental visions of a very old derelict building. There were people there, men and women, but not in solid form, more wispish and almost transparent and all showed terrible fear and anguish on their faces. Their mouths and eyes were wide open as if screaming and all were running from room to room in panic as if trying to escape from something. They were obviously spirit beings in a horrifying traumatic situation. It wasn’t a very nice vision for the Clairvoyants.

This derelict building obviously wasn’t her home where most spirit beings naturally wanted to dwell for a time while in limbo being a familiar place for them as well as wanting to be around family members if any. It gave them some comfort before they went on the journey everybody knows they will have to eventually face by entering into the bright light. Those that are victims of terrible crimes that want revenge can stay in a limbo state for a very long time all hoping that one day that revenge will be granted and they can move on. With Anne Smith they didn’t pick up revenge it was more like terrible fear. Even the spirit voice that came to them sounded like a young lost child and in a whimpering tone.

Then Anne Smith’s spirit left and didn’t return no matter how long they called her name.

The Clairvoyants then decided to go to the few remaining fatal crash sites to see if they could contact any other spirit being. They had no luck at all. Anne Smith had been their sole contact from all the fatal crash sites.

On reporting later to the Police Inspector and updating him on what had occurred so far and mentioning the old derelict building that had come into their mental vision they wondered if he could throw any light on it; it turned out the Inspector knew immediately where it was from their descriptions. He even knew its history which he relayed to them.

The building what was left of it while now in a total derelict state was once a fine Manor built in the early 1700’s by a wealthy Ship Owner. The property itself that the building stood on covered some 200 acres and had changed hands over the years several times. The last owner in 1901 who was from Hungary had stirred up much local wrath after a number of local young maidens had been found dead with their throats cut after being invited to work at the Manor as housemaids. After each death the owner swore he had nothing to do with it. That it must be local Gypsies that he had seen on the property. Everybody knew they were thieves and would definitely resort to cutting a young maiden’s throat if cornered in the act of thievery within the Manor. This excuse had worked on the first couple of deaths, the innocent Gypsies slain by a local mob. Then the excuse fell lame after another two deaths when no Gypsies were, or had been in the area for months. The mob had then stormed the Manor capturing the owner and setting the whole place alight. They then took the owner out to a haystack in one of his own fields, trussed him and threw him on top, then set the haystack on fire. His terrible screams as the fire burned were their final revenge.

The fire at the Manor had totally gutted the building. No one had ever wanted to own the property after that with its terrible history and finally some of the walls had collapsed in sections until it became the derelict seen today. About the only live things on the property now were the local rabbit populations along with foxes.

Like a lot of derelict buildings near a Township there were local stories of course of Ghosts being seen late at night, but it was only to scare the kids so they wouldn’t go there and perhaps get injured by falling debris. In fact no one would have seen Ghosts there as no one wanted to be anywhere near the place at night.

Everything the Inspector had revealed jelled almost to what they had seen mentally from Anne Smith except for one thing. They had seen both women and men in the building fleeing in fear. So Anne Smith hadn’t been showing them the young local maidens murdered back at that historic time.

That this derelict building needed at least further investigation was beyond doubt now.

The Clairvoyants then asked the Inspector if he could arrange to take them there so they could try and see if they could raise any of the spirit beings they had earlier seen in their vision. It appeared that they were somehow involved with Anne Smith. Otherwise why would she have given them the mental visions? The Inspector readily agreed and arranged for a vehicle to take the Clairvoyants and himself to the property.

The property wasn’t very far outside the small Township of Thornton and they soon arrived at the closed iron gates supported by stone pillars with a big sign hanging from them reading; "KEEP OUT!
