Invitation To The Game

About this ebook
It is America’s Sunday-the day that millions gather to watch the Superbowl. From militant Pittsburg fan Joe to football pacifist Esther and pom-pom baring airhead Janelle Sterns floating somewhere in between, track two characters as they make their way through this special day responding unknowingly to the invitation to the game.
David B. Sable’s profound story hones characters into a “sharply descriptive allegory to depict our post-Church culture. His archetypical way of creating characters is very effective in presenting a profound picture of who we are as modern American Christians. . . from Joe to Rev Jackson to Janelle and Daniel and all of them, I love every one, and I do see a part of myself in every one of them.”
“And the sports announcers--you've must have spent hours listening to them in preparation for this. You nailed their lingo! And their don't-stop-analyzing-schmooze-talk. So evocative and colorful, yet repetitive and cliche at the same time.”
"Execute!" Ha!

No!
said Shelly. She was working on putting on her earrings as she walked through the living room in her church dress and bare nylons. Absolutely not!
But it’s a tie,
said Joe with the affronted look of a child who just experienced great injustice. Joe was pouring himself a cup of coffee.
No!
said Shelly turning around as she realized that the shoes she was looking for was in the bedroom closet after all.
Joe lifted up his six inch wide tie. Staring back was the locked jaw of a steel worker with a fist larger than his face. Bold type underneath shouted, Crush them!
In Joe’s way of thinking, it fit perfectly around his black Steelers Nation polo shirt and the lemon yellow pants he was lucky enough to find at the thrift store. To add a measure of Sunday morning formality, he wore his black and yellow football jacket with the Pittsburg Steelers helmet and logo and the four inch high lettering along the back.
Joe turned towards the bedroom. "But
