My legs were aching, straining to continue running.
My breaths came in labored gasps, I needed to stop but couldn’t.
The thudding footsteps were getting closer. Their shouts could be heard clearly.

She’s mine
It had been a few months since Hemi worked her magic and Sandra stopped bullying me but in her wake came someone far worse. A new gang moved to town everyone was afraid even the law enforcement did little to stop them. Normally, I was good at avoiding their usual hangouts but today I had an errand to run for my mother. She had been attacked a week ago and refused to leave the house.
So, here I was running for my life wishing Hemi would return to save me, when the thought struck. I’d gone to her world once before getting to the tree could be my only chance. I could feel my pursuer’s hot breath on the back of my neck. His fingernail gently scratched my arm as he attempted to grab me.
I quickly changed direction momentarily knocking my attackers off balance there was now a short distance between us. I headed directly for the woods I knew so well. In the beginning I went there every day to try to return to Hemi’s world but never could. I just hoped it worked this time because if they saw me enter the tree there would be no other place for me to go.
