About this ebook

So many questions in life seem unanswered. But looking deeper, into the heart of the bearer, the answers lie waiting, within the heart of the Creator. Loneliness, lost love, struggles in life, reflections of oneself, often are covered by the busyness of the every day world. In this collection of free verse, the author reveals the things that she could not speak herself, but only could whisper into the heart of the One who is unseen.

Susan Linn-Gomez

Susan Gomez (Pen name S.Linn-Gomez) resides in Tucson, Arizona. Although having a career in Social Services for over 30 years, my real profession in life is to touch others hearts through the art of the written word. I am a mother of three, and grandmother of five. I grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, as close to Heaven as anyone can get, without getting there. Raised on a farm, coming from humble beginnings, taught me that humility, or how one sees oneself, is the beginning of knowledge of oneself. But seeing the Colorado sky, the desert in bloom and the Ocean deep, taught me there is someone larger than myself. I hope you will enjoy my book, and my future books to come, not all poetry, but all from my heart.

    In The Hidden Places

She drew the cloak about her tightly,

Brushing away a tear, she turned her face to the sky.

And from her lips a prayer, God help me find my way.

She closed her eyes and drank in the sweetness of the cool breeze,

And the heat of the sun on her face,

And breathed a sigh deep from within her soul.

Somewhere, in some summer, she had closed all the doors,

Shutting up the attic of her soul, locking tightly the basement door,

And boarded up the windows of her heart.

It had been so long ago, she hardly remembered

What lay outside, what lay inside, and she had come to know

That she was lost behind those walls.

She sighed and dozed in the sun, and in her mind

    A figure came walking.

His robes flowing, and His hand reached out for hers,

And she stepped up to meet Him.

They walked together through the doors of her soul,

Finding all the hidden places, unlocking each door until at last

They came to the attic and she trembled as they turned the key.

What secrets lie in hidden places,

    My Savior only knows,

But as he lifts the veil I see

    A window and a rose,

    And far beyond the window

    Out across the land,

I see the place of trust and love

    I long to understand.

She flings open the window, brushing the dust of her life away

And it falls to the ground below like shimmers of crystalline glass

As the air of freedom comes and beckons her to walk in the sun

    A Humble Heart

There is a beauty not seen by men,

In a heart that is surrendered and humble.

A heart that does not cry but trusts,

And believes only in the goodness of God.

The humble heart sees itself only as it is,

Not more, not less than any man,

With true humility, it bows to
