    PREFACE

    Is there life after death?

What lies beyond the grave and how is there a way to connect to the Afterlife? How can we connect to deceased loved ones NOW!

Connecting to the Afterlife addresses life’s greatest mystery, and will not only revolutionise your thinking on Spirituality, but will give you the tools to reassess and revitalise your life now.

This is a book I never wanted to write.

For thousands of years people have been debating whether an afterlife exists. People have been trying to define the soul, karma, consciousness, reincarnation and many other aspects of humanities’ non-physical life.

This is not a book aimed at debating spiritual or religious theories- this is a practical book based on my personal afterlife observations and experiences.

You will discover in this book that I am not a linguist, and therefore I will not attempt to define anything. Neither am I a philosopher. Nor am I a scientist. I have no doctrine to impart, nor am I interested in changing your beliefs or helping you reach enlightenment. I am not a priest, missionary or theologian wanting to convert you to take a particular religious or spiritual path; in fact I have very little interest in religion or any social institution.

I am not a guru, saint or messiah. I will not show you, nor create for you, the one infallible life path you must lead in this lifetime. I am not a serious business like person that will stare at you wide-eyed and proclaim I have all the answers to your life issues. This I will not do.

The information, lessons and exercises highlighted throughout this book are either those I have learnt whilst on my journey or those that came to light after.

I am all in favour of the questioning, sceptical mind. You do not have to believe anything written here until you have tried the exercises yourself. Until then, yes, be sceptical and question. The questioning process will help you understand what you will be experiencing.

Generations come and go, yet every generation and every individual asks the same question about the meaning of life. This confusion of ideas leads one to ask, What is really gong on?

I, too, was confused and didn’t know the answer until, one day, I died. It was only then I realized there was a reason to all this alienation and confusion.

I didn’t really want to write this book.

But, as you read this book, you will discover why I did.

CHAPTER 1 - JOURNEY THROUGH THE AFTERLIFE

    Death

    I died yesterday.

I knew I was dead because I saw myself across my room, lying unconscious in bed. There was no blood, no fear, no screaming, no pain and no sense of urgency. Just a quiet detached sense of emptiness. I had never understood death, not really. What I remember most about that moment was being alone. More than anything at that moment was the feeling that I wanted to be with somebody, to touch somebody; anybody.

I died at 18 minutes after midday. I looked at the clock on my wall and the time said 12:18. I was home in bed with what I thought was the flu, watching the midday news, drifting off to sleep just as the sports report began droning in the background.

Except it wasn’t the flu. And I wasn’t drifting off to sleep. It was a heart attack. And I was dying. Alone.

My soul left its body at the moment before the pain hit my chest. One moment I was drifting off to sleep. The next moment I was looking at myself across the room. I saw my chest heave upwards, then slump.

There was one instant of anxiety- a momentary eruption of, Am I really dead? How can I be dead if I am looking at myself and aware of my thoughts? These are my thoughts, so I cannot be really dead? I am alive!

I knew my body was dead, but I became aware that somehow my personality had survived. I was still aware of being myself. I was still ‘Alex Telman.’

A thought: Am I really here, or am I just pretending?"

Lesson: It takes a little time to adjust to the separation of spirit from the body. What is your soul? It is your personality when separated from your physical body.

I did not have time to follow this thought process as I felt a gentle pulling, almost an instinct to turn away from the sight of my dead body and turn around. As my personality turned I saw myself surrounded by a silver light; an envelope of light where by body should have been. This silver light looked and felt like an entry-way through which I could enter if I so chose. Language cannot do justice to what I was experiencing at that moment. As I moved through and into the light I felt the power of understanding and security all around me; I felt absolute harmony and no fear. Later I learnt that this silver light is a form of healing, an adjustment to the separation from the physical body.

Lesson: Death does not end your personality and self-consciousness; it merely releases your spirit, allowing it to depart the physical realm and return home to the realm of spirit.

As I became more aware of my surroundings, I realised that the light appeared to be layered, in the sense of getting brighter as I passed through what I later knew to be my etheric body; a layer of silver light that surrounds each of us. When we die and the body drops away, the soul turns and enters, passes through, the etheric body. The etheric body is like a bridge, or a gateway between the physical realm and the spirit real.

As I entered my etheric body I noticed that the light changed from silver to grey to light blue to bright white. As I entered the light blue light I recall hearing sounds, like vibrations, and somehow these sounds made me feel more energized, more revitalized. As I passed through the white light I became aware of what felt like the power of thought all around me. I could not hear any specific voices, nor could I make out any specific ideas, but I knew there was a presence nearby.

This was not the first time I had died.

    Three Years Old

As a child aged three, I swallowed a bee.

It went down my throat but did not sting me. And I can still recall it buzzing in my throat.

    I was
