I'm a native Floridian, retired from the US Army, I started writing in the army, mostly training and tech manuals. Boring stuff, but it whetted my interest in writing. I've written sci-fi, thrillers, mysteries, humor, fantasies, horror, and more. I'm now living in NC. While in the army, I served in air defense artillery, military intelligence, and psychological operations. I also worked in Federal Civil Service as a quality assurance specialist, ammunition surveillance. I love writing, reading, most kinds of music, and animals--especially dogs.

Foreword
Here's a tribute to all our canine friends who have helped mankind in so many ways. To list all their acts of heroism, devotion, and loyalty would require several novel length books. So here's a very, very brief rundown of just a few of their accomplishments, sometimes giving their lives.
The times they have saved families from burning houses is countless
There are numerous accounts of dogs saving small children from drowning.
They have helped to locate and save countless people after disasters such as tornados and earthquakes.
They have saved individuals and families from snakes and wild animals, sometimes at the cost of their lives.
In displays of love and loyalty they have followed the caskets of their beloved masters and lain on their graves after burial.
They have kept intruders away, also sometimes at the cost of their lives.
They have been a great help to the blind, deaf, and otherwise handicapped.
They have been of great help to police, firemen, and the military.
It should be noted that there are many, many monuments to dogs all over the world, from Japan to Norway; from the U.S. to Russia, and just about everywhere.
We owe a great deal to this wonderful animal.
Our Relationship With Dogs
Our relationship with dogs is a long one, going back to prehistoric times. How it all started is sketchy. One theory is that humans found wolf pups and brought them home.
Another theory is that Stone age men, lacking the weapons to make them good hunters, followed wolves around. When the wolves made a kill, the men would chase the wolves off and steal the meat. The wolves then followed the humans, hoping
