She also has a master's and doctorate in counseling and has been a counselor for 17 years. Presently, she is teaching about deaf culture and interpreting at a community college. She loves animals, sports, and reading, which is reflected in her writing. She has had several magazine articles published. She wrote her first book, "Here to Bump and Bump to Hear," in 2012.
