About this ebook

"There's A Mouse In My House" was the result of a little mouse that ran from a fireplace on a cold winter night, startling my young grandchildren. Before bedtime, they asked me to tell them a story about the mouse that invaded their home. They were fascinated and wanted another story about the mouse... and another... and another.
Thus came the creation of twenty-six stories in "The Adventures of Maurice DeMouse by Grandma Sharon."
Description of The Adventures of Maurice DeMouse by Grandma Sharon (c) 2006
"As he yawned, he wiped the sleep from his tiny mouse eyes, stretched his little mouse legs, shook his body, and wiggled his skinny little mouse tail -- as he did every morning when he woke up.
'Wicky-Wacky-Whoa! I'm ready to go!' said the little mouse."
Maurice DeMouse came to life on paper in the Fall of 2003 when a little mouse startled me and two of my granddaugters, Peyton and Piper, as it ran from a fireplace in their home.
That night, the little toddlers asked me to tell them a bedtime story about the mouse. I created a story about a cold little mouse that came into their home seeking warmth. When the story was finished, they begged me for another... and another. Then one of the girls said “Grandma, what’s the little mouse’s name?” I replied, “Maurice. Maurice the Mouse.”
Almost all of the stories in “The Adventures of Maurice DeMouse by Grandma Sharon” (c) center around the little mouse and his friends, including his mouse friend Maureen, Bobby the Bunny, Squeaky the Squirrel and Stinky the Skunk. Maurice and his faithful friends live on the property of a family with a dog named Noodles and a little girl named Cassie, and the family is occasionally incorporated into their adventures. (The original stories were personalized for all of my grandchildren and their respective family pets.)
But my grandchildren still wanted more stories so Maurice made more friends. One by one came the creation of Rosie Racoon and her babies Rudy and Randy; Pokey the Turtle; Bruno the Bear; Froggy the Cat; the Little Ducklings Dooley and Dolly with their ten brother and sister ducklings: Dutchess, Duke, Dilly, Dippy, Donnie, Doris, Doolittle, Dahlia, Daphne, Daffy, Dinky and Denny; Miss Missy Mouse the School Teacher; Choo-Choo Charlie the Steam Engine; and Snowflake, the Turkish Van Cat.
Each story is designed to entertain, amuse, and educate toddlers and young children about animals or life events, and an occasional lesson can be learned from the character’s behavior and adventures. Maurice and the friends that he makes as the stories evolve also go to school for the first time (Time for School!) and experience adventures that young children encounter, as well as a move across country when Cassie’s daddy is transferred (A Moving Experience), and a brief stay in the Mous-pital when Maurice gets sick (Maurice Goes to the Mous-pital).
I encouraged my grandchildren to provide ideas for other stories. Savannah wanted the mouse to get his tail stuck in a fence: “A Tale of a Tail” (c); Mahayla discovered a rabbit in the drain pipe of her house during a snow storm: “It’s Not Nice to Bite, Butt...” (c); Piper asked for a story about a turtle: “The Rock With a Head and Four Feet” (c); and Peyton wanted a story about a bear that couldn’t growl: “The Bear With No Growl” (c). The other grandchildren, Pierce, Bohdan, Sierra, Dasia, and Viviana were a little young to submit their requests; but it won’t be long before they do.
I am pleased to present "The Adventures of Maurice DeMouse by Grandma Sharon" (c) and his friends, published as eBooks on Smashwords.com.
All proceeds from the sale of these ebooks will go to my grandchildren’s college fund.
Thank you for your interest in “The Adventures of Maurice DeMouse by Grandma Sharon.” I hope you enjoy them!
