I bought this book from amazon.
    Baby 6609 by JK Accinni

I totally loved the story and the characters. LOVE BABY!!! I did not foresee any of the events that took place halfway through the book to the end. What The Heck!! This story is very original and unique. It is a mix of the early 1940's with sci-fi twist. There is also tragedy, happiness, and other things that make this book GREAT! I for the life of me could not put it done and kept thinking about the scenes and the ending. I'm dying to read ECHO the next book in this series!! I'm wondering how it will tie into with this one. I think this author will only get better and better. My heart broke toward the end and ached for the characters all I keep thinking is WTH!! lol GREAT READ!!! MUST TRY!!

The story is about Netty who is a poor girl on a farm with her momma and papa. A nice man Mr Woods comes and brings gifts to her and her mother for the farm. One day a suitor finds interest in Netty, she finds herself thrust into a nightmare after that. She makes her escape many years later and returns to her family home. She works hard and gets the farm back up when she stumbles upon an odd but beautiful creature. Fearful of what will happen to the pretty thing, she brings it home and names him baby. Baby is a creature from Oolahan that somehow survived from giving birth and uses energy from Netty to bring healing to itself. They become attached to one another, but can their good luck stay? Can she truly be happy with her man-killing husband a couple towns over? Will he come for her?
I give this book 5 stars because I loved it!!

I understand this is like a prequal but I have never cried so hard over a book. The author painted a detailed atmosphere of rural Prohibition chicanery and the difficulties of life on the farm. Sprinkle in an abused heroine and dying alien and you have a recipe for an original story line.

The fact that the story will first charm you then rip out your heart is a testimony to the skills of the writer and her ability to suck you right in. Thank you Mr. Accinni.

I suspect we have not seen the end of Baby and Netty but just in case....PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!!

Just finished Baby and I loved it!! I had an immediate connection to Netty and Baby and the author’s writing style made the pages fly by. Great descriptive imagery. I loved the setting. The author did a fantastic job of convincingly placing me into 1920’s rural New Jersey which is one of the last places I would think an "alien invasion" would take place. The specific problems of that decade served as a fascinating backdrop for this cautionary tale. I was devastated by parts of the story (don’t want to give too much away!) but was pleased by the closure at the end. I was also excited to find the first three chapters of the next book Echo at the end of the book. All I can say is WOW! I can’t wait to see how this alien story is going to play out for planet earth across space and time. Recommend to anyone looking for a fast paced adventure story.

Netty is a young girl married to a much older, brutal husband; a corrupt judge, who has made his fortune as a bootlegger during Prohibition. After suffering years of his cruel and heartless treatment, Netty escapes, returning to the derelict farm where she once lived happily with her mother. While recovering from her injuries Netty discovers a strange alien creature who she calls Baby. After taking Baby with her to the farm, Netty’s life takes a turn for the better. Through Baby’s ability to heal she becomes healthy, her farm produces wondrous and prolific produce and she is finally able to live a happy life. When a young man wanders onto her property, it seems that she may now have everything she wants. But something strange is happening to Netty and it is becoming increasingly difficult to hide her body’s changes from Wil and her neighbours. But because of her new prosperity, her husband’s attention returns to her and Netty’s happy life soon becomes one of despair. The book ends on quite a cliff hanger. Just what has become of Netty, Wil and Baby? I am already reading the second book in what I think will be a great series of six books.

Wow- this was so beyond my typical read. I consider myself more of a classical reads. I don't reach to deep into paranormal or sci-fi or anything in that general area, I stick to the basics. When I do reach out, its usually something many friends have read, and this book is NOT that case! I had seen some people talk about Baby, and wondered what it consisted of. While starting the book I was confused I think about what was actually going on with the theme, not because the author wrote it that way, but because I had a preconceived notion of what I thought the book was. By the end of chapter one I was drastically enthralled into the book needing to keep reading. Although, I do have little feet and hand interruptions, so reading went a lot slower than I would have liked. In some sense I felt like I could understand what Netty is going through, but never as close. Honestly, JK has skill in writing because she captured me into the world, and the destruction, the greed, the heart-ache, and then created a sense of healing, comfort, and success. I don't know how to get you to read what is going on, other than say, you will not be disappointed, and you will want more. Not to spoil anything, but the storyline is simply unique and unknown. I LOVE that Netty suffers an "arraigned" marriage, because its something very real to the period. And then the escape, and the heartache that comes, and then finding that one true love, or is it love, is it possible that this can really be love, confusion becomes bliss when you understand the connection Netty feels to Baby, and how truly wonderful it must be. And just when you think its a fantasy with a twist, JK throws something so out there you just want to jump in the book and shake it. Shake the reality and say WHOA, what just happened here! The book again, is just something that captured me. Not a typical read by far, but I am so thankful I stepped outside my boundaries for this! And you my friend---should step too! I've already finished the next book in the series, ECHO, and I will be reviewing that shortly as well! *AMAZING--- 5+ stars for sure*

When I first got this book, I really wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get into it. I'm not one for Sci-Fi but once I picked it up I could not put it down. I was able to throw myself into the story right away. My heart ached for Netty as she told her story about her life with a horrid husband, who is evil to the core of his soul. Her rescue of Baby and how Baby saved her is quite an amazing story. Oh and dont forget the greatest blessing of all ... A love that will last beyond the lengths of time it's self.I would recommend this book to any and all who enjoy a great read. You get a little bit of Sci-Fi, Horror and Romance all in one :) LOVED IT !!!!!

Usually I don't read much Sci-Fi because it tends to go horribly wrong or positively right. However, this turned out in-between. Reading Baby made me think of E.T. crossed with a Teletubbie (its how I pictured Baby.) My Review will contain Spoilers, please do not continue to read if you don't want to know what goes on in the book. The book is Sci-Fi but also has somewhat of a believable story line.Characters overview:Netty goes through some pretty messed up stuff the whole time. I didn't like how she refused to fight back. I understand that she was scared *bleep*less of Robert, but if your already in that situation why not fight back? What is there to loose? NOTHING! Netty eventually turns into an Amazing Heroine then all of a sudden when something comes up, we have no clue where she went! Later on in the book the same situation arises (Rape) but with a different character, only for her to back down once again. Even with the stakes being higher the second time around she just doesn't do ANYTHING! This leaves me wondering where did her back bone go? She grew only to shrink right back to the old Netty.Robert (Netty's Husband) is freaking disgusting. *Gag* The things he does to her and has his men do to her is just downright gruesome.Eli was such a pig. Honestly I was hoping he would get his in the end!Baby was wise but at the same time had no recognition as to what his initial mission was on Earth. I was disappointed that he never did figure it out. Hopefully the books that follow will appease this. He looks to me like I've said above- A cross between E.T., Teletubbie, antlers that are shaped into a glass halo, walks on two feet, with a tail of a cat and thin short fir almost like peach fuzz but thicker in certain areas. That's what I picture when I think of Baby!Wil is very helpful, when he came into the picture I was extremely happy that things for Netty where finally picking up!It was a good story line, unique plot with interesting Characters. The writing style falls flat, seems to just drag on and on and on. There was constant changing POV's as well. We started off with the Main Characters POV, then switch to a side Characters POV. It was almost as if the Author was unsure of which Character should be the Main Character. Some of the side characters story's in my opinion did nothing to add to the storyline. It was more useless information to make the story seem longer and fuller. The ending seemed rushed, it ended up leaving more questions with a half conclusion that shouldn't be called a cliffhanger.Overall as a whole it just didn't give me that spark. I found myself hoping for the end to come quick and it just didn't come soon enough! Perhaps the books following will pick up the flow and slack that Baby didn't provide. One more thing to point out- This has violence, rape, and brutality. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone under 18.

This was a wonderfully alluring story. This book pulls you into its story-line in a very deep manner. The characters are easy to relate to, and the plot is believable, although it is very fictional. I couldn't help but find myself sympathizing with the characters and cheering them on! I cried for them, I laughed with them, and I fell in love with them.I did not notice any loose ends in the reading of it, and there were minimal grammar problems and typos. With this being a problem in many books, I found it refreshing to not stumble over very many, at all. Miss Accinni did a wonderful job with description, and I didn't feel left out in the cold with it or even bogged down with too much. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series with high hopes and anticipation!

It is said that the story likens to E.T. which is true to some extent. Baby too, is a mysterious creature called an Oolahan, comes from somewhere outside our universe. However, the friendship that ensues between a battered and bruised – in body& soul – young woman and Baby, as she names him, is simple yet complicated and definitely deep and mysterious. So are the changes that take shape in Nelly’s body, soul and spirit. When she rescues an Italian man, he comes to love and also accept the mystery surrounding Baby as well as the influence he has on Nelly. It all is fine as long as they keep themselves to themselves. The first time they venture out together to a dance in the village – brutal and shocking things happen. But… there is more to it than the eye can see! This story is told in such a way that it grabbed not only my attention – I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting, it was thát good! – but also my heart and emotions. I felt the pain, the relief of Nelly’s escape, the fear, the love, the struggle for acceptance, and also the shock and horror in Nelly’s life. I gasped at what I thought was the end of the story. Fortunately, the mystery continues and I can’t wait to read the second book in the series, Echo. Keep your eyes on this spot as Echo will be reviewed on this blog on Monday!I loved this book! Not just the story, but also how it is told, the beautiful language and imagery used. I learned quite a few new words (so easy as my e-reader contains a dictionary!). I give it 6 out of 5 stars!

The plot opens strong with the life of a young woman during prohibition, Netty, who endures abuse at the hands of her husband, Robert. When Netty runs away she is approached by an alien creature, Baby, and changed both mentally and physically by its love into what was called an immortal.Escaping to her childhood home although her family is dead, Netty works hard to restore her mother's farm with Baby's help and even finds a man she saves from death to fall in love with. The immortality of the creature is not explained, nor is the change that Netty and her lover endure, sprouting tails and enjoying an ability to heal.I don't want to spoil the outcome of the of the grand life changes, but needless to say they don't live happily-ever-after.The ending of the book comes across as something out of H.P. Lovecraft rather than a science fiction and I truly believe that-at least for this book - the genre is a misnomer.I have yet to examine the next three and possibly my understanding of the series will be more complete as a whole.

Baby, being the first book in the series started out a little slow, but that is to be expected in a first book. It is set back in a time where a woman would be married at a young age. The pain, physical & emotional, that Nettie endured during this marriage were hard for me to read on a personal level not because of grammar (thus the reason I rate it an 18+ read). However watching how she grows in her life after meeting Baby was much more enjoyable but still with a few hard moments. This story has real life problems with the addition of Baby an alien added to stir things up.One thing that I will say that I saw true in this book and it is true in real life...Evil corrupts those weak in faith but the Good are rewarded! I saw no faith in Robert Nettie's husband but saw plenty of evil, it is only Nettie's faith that helped her get as far as she did. At least that is how I saw it.It will be interesting to read Echo and see what happens next.I gave this book a 4 star for a good story and good writing, even if I didn't like some of the content that is not a reason for me to rate it other wise.

What can I say about Baby? Gosh there is so much that could be said but I will start off with WOW!!! I did not think I would be able to get into this because I have never quite been into Sci-fi type stuff but I cannot figure out if Baby is scifi or paranormal. either way I LOVE IT!!! I cannot wait to read the rest of this series. it is DEF a must read for everyone!

This book is really good, quite a fascinating story that's quite well written. I'm finding it a rather heart warming story in fact. It does a good job of opening this series and look forward to reading the other books. There is great web of life that is posited in this book, everything is connected in both time and space. All life comes from one source. Quite a fascinating idea for me and quite different than most sci-fi I've read.

I wasnt sure what I was going to get when I started this book! I read reviews by others and still wasnt sure lol. What I did get was an amazingly complex set of dynamics that makes me wonder what did I read! Netty is a farm girl who marries a big shot who typically is a smuk! Netty runs home to her family farm and finds it in disarray. Wondering the woods she finds a creature she names Baby. Later a drifter comes and stays with Netty and Baby. Lots of changes happen between them and the land. Of course hubby comes back in the picture and ruins everything. Netty gets revenge. This is where I got alittle lost...I am not sure exactly what happens, I guess book 2 will tell me. I have to read it!Overall wonderful, amazing, bizarre and most importantly a very good read!

What an amazing story that is so unique and refreshing you will be looking forward to what happens next! The character's the Author creates are so detailed and the story she weaves heart wrenching! The hardships of a young girl trying to find her way back from a horrible abusive marriage is a story in itself, but when coupled with an extraterrestrial visitor that becomes her reason to survive, will have you engrossed until the very end

More of a sci-fi read than my usual paranormal fantasy but a gripping story. Netty’s misleading marriage with Robert was heartbreaking to read. But when she finally runs away and finds baby the story is so much more pleasant, with new surprises at every turn. Baby is a touching read and you can’t help but like this incredibly strange family. That is until they are brutally murdered. For a minute I could not believe that was possible, how could they all be killed just like that? How could someone take their long sought happiness from them in an instant but it was clear that this book is not your normal fairytale. The story becomes more thrilling as one by one, each person who tormented Netty and her family dies mysteriously, until finally Robert himself realises how it feels to lose the ones you love in an instant. A captivating, unusual and very imaginative read. Highly recommended!*I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

I love this book. This book pulled at your heart strings and made you root for Nettie, Baby, and Wil. After being married to Robert and treated like she was nothing, Nettie discovers some of Robert’s secrets and takes off. Going back to where her family once lived, Nettie discovers an alien that she names Baby and discovers the healing powers of it. They become very attached to each other and Nettie wants to protect Baby. But when a stranger comes around and enters Nettie’s life, will she be able to keep Baby a secret or will that endanger their lives? This is a touching story of true love and friendship and the beginning of a wonderful series
