    About the Author

    Portsmouth to Southampton

It was late Friday night and Rob had just finished work after another 12 hour shift. All he wanted to do was get home and climb into bed, sleep would surely follow in seconds, however there was a persistent, nagging thought in the back of his mind. Why hadn't he heard from Shelley today?

He'd sent her a few messages throughout the day, the usual stuff, but checking his phone he saw there was still no reply. He hoped he hadn't unwittingly said the wrong thing or annoyed her again, she could be a bit prickly at times.

Letting out a sigh, he decided he'd worry about it tomorrow, he was just too tired to deal with any drama this evening.

It was small and white and seemed to have been pushed under his door, he hoped it wasn't the neighbours complaining about the noise again. Curiously, he peered at the offending item, it wasn't addressed to anyone, in fact the envelope itself was completely bare. Strange, he thought, perhaps it had been left for him by mistake.

Picking it up, he weighed it in his hand. It was almost light enough to be empty but he felt the give-away rigidity of something inside.

Intrigued, he turned it over, sliding his finger under the gummed flap to open
