I'm a videogame designer and storyteller in the Chicago area. As a game designer I have worked on numerous games for consoles and PC. Most recently I was lead designer on Disney Guilty Party at Disney's Wideload Games Studio. As a storyteller I've done mostly community performances within the American Indian community of Chicago, lots of the Chicago Public Schools and Libraries, and for many local culture, family, and education oriented organizations. I have always had a love for hero stories and myths, cautionary tales, ghost stories, and Jack tales. I have a particular fondness for tales from my African American, Native American (Lakota), and Irish Heritages in addition to wuxia tales of the Far East and tales of otherworldly faerie-like beings the world over (faeries, peries, and deevs, djinn, yokai, etc) and they find a way into my work whenever they get a chance. I currently lecture on game design at DePaul University while exploring different ways of engaging interactive fiction. My current project, Ehdrigohr, is a return to my roots of tabletop gaming and storytelling. The goal of Ehdrigohr is to create a fantastic world for people to explore that has American indigenous peoples' sensibilities, myth, folklore, and tropes as its main filter, while borrowing liberally from indigenous cultures worldwide. In addition to this focus, it is intended to remain accessible to a wide range of readers. More importantly however, I want a place of wonder that I, my children, and my many tribal friends could imagine ourselves in. A place where we are not the exception, but the norm. Ehdrigohr isn't historic fiction and makes no attempt to be a cultural reference on anything. It uses these cultural tales to inspire a setting that is familiar but woven new from whole cloth. It is its own thing and there are many stories waiting to be told in it. I intend to dig up as many of those tales as I can and present them in as many way as I can. Hopefully you'll find something to your liking within the pages of my writings and musings. More info can be found at http://www.council-of-fools.com/blog. Follow me on Twitter @CouncilOfFools
