INTRODUCTION
(Back to Contents)
I have been fortunate enough to have been deputed to National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (N.I.E.P.A.), New Delhi, for receiving training to serve my State Education Department, comprehensively and efficiently, to the best satisfaction of my people.
I have done my post graduation in Philosophy and English at Aligarh Muslim University and then Urdu from University of Kashmir; there, I got exposed to the intellectual liberalism and tried my best to get out of the shackles containing my vision and emotional being.
While analyzing the socio-cultural and religio-political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir State, we the friends used to feel to discuss that the vision of Kashmiris is very narrow and myopic, because of the high snow capped mountains surrounding the valley of Kashmir; captivating the bones with snow and chill. These mountains stand in the way of their widening vision and enrichment of knowledge, they cannot transcend them to enlarge and extend their vision. Those get a chance to cross over the mountains and meet people on the other side, really, get metamorphosed to start a new life with a fresh oriented perceptual vision and thought. My association with various kinds of friends across the country revolutionized my thought structures and mental makeup. We, the friends sit together, think over the socio-political, socio-cultural and religio-political plight, lament over the values, we had been cherishing all along. A friend of mine, worldly-wise, intellectually un-rhythmic, genetically self-centered, descriptive mind; not allowing faith to be reposed on him; could not further his thoughts with analytical approach.
We have lost reminding our self that Kashmir, once upon a time, was the center of knowledge and thought; intellectuals and spiritual personalities from all over the world used to come over here to share with the saints and philosophers of Kashmir their intellectual and spiritual perceptions regarding metaphysical and epistemological enquires pertaining to existential predicaments and problems, thus, quenching their insatiable appetite for knowledge and experiences.
No doubt, we have presented the world with the production of first grade historians, philosophers, spiritualists, saints, writers and poets. Kashmiris though brave, remained throughout historical turmoil and turbulences pacifists, believers and admirers of non-violence and peace. Humanism is their religion, fundamentalism their abomination and abhorrence. Catholicism is their faith and belief that is why Mr. Gandhi felt spiritually, perceived light and glow emanating from Kashmir, illuminating the world, when the ‘Holi’ of the warm bubbling blood, was played throughout the country.
I strongly and convincingly believe that Mr. Gandhi, fundamentally a Hindu, was an incarnation of Gautama Buddha teaching us to be honest, philanthropic and benevolent with God’s creation, because the creator of the universe does not like demolition and destruction of any part of His creation by the cruel hands of men and women. His curse befalls the hands that grope and extend towards the destruction of humanity. We the friends always thought about the intellectual and spiritual prosperity of this state in general and of the people of Kashmir in particular.
During my intellectual growth and development, I met and cultivated association with men of various types of ideologies and cultures including both theists and atheists. I carried their perceptions and experiences with respect to metaphysical human existential predicaments for a long time, till my independent, emancipating thinking and maturity dawned upon me. I feel like relishing that life is a juncture of conjunctions and commas, governed and programmed by religio-cultural commandments.
Mr. J.M. Ray, ex-principal of Tyndale Biscoe School, Srinagar, protestant by his faith and belief made me conversant with the biblical assertions and revelation, related to metaphysical deliverances of divine truth, which lies in the faith of Gospels, containing a trinity in terms of Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, which stand for redemption of aboriginal sin committed by Adam; has descended from him to us. The sacrifice of Christ will stand by human beings for the redemption of their sins till the resurrection and arrival of the kingdom of God. Jesus stands by human beings promising that his sacrifice with regard to aboriginal sin will protect human beings against the divine wrath and punishment to be served. Actually, the sin committed by Adam and Eve in the ‘Garden of Eden’ forced Jesus Spiritually to come in the form of human flesh and blood for the deliverance of humanity from the divine displeasure. When He, sacrificed himself, human beings got liberated from the worldly burden of affairs, but mistakes, and blunders are committed or ought to be committed require confession, because blunders and mistakes occur because of misperception and misunderstanding of the human mind. Church is established just to know blunders and mistakes committed in the way of spiritual evolution and physio-biological and bio-chemical development of the human culture. The Holy Quran endorses the spiritual superiority and prophet hood of Jesus, advocating his sincere sacrifice against the Jewish culmination, calling him ‘Roohullah’ (the spirit of God). No doubt, Jesus came in the human form to liberate human beings from the strait-jacket of religious commandments and covenants, by setting them free, taking the accountability of the aboriginal sin upon him, releasing and restoring their potential creativity, permitting them to contribute their share in the development of universal fraternity and brotherhood. He will certainly come (as per the Iranian cultural advocacy regarding his arrival to close the prophet-ship). Here the Holy Quran clashes with the biblical narrations correcting the faith of Christians that Jesus has not been crucified at all, but the holy punishment was there.
It can be concluded that if Jesus will come down as prophet to rule the world with justice. Logically, the arrival of Christ certainly relegates the apostolic position of Prophet Mohammad (be peace upon him). How can this problem of coming back of Christ in the Islamic faith and thought be resolved and reconciled? Primarily apostolic position of Christ establishes and the relegation of the positions of other apostils emerges, that cannot be refuted logically. I don’t know how Iranian thinker will dissolve this religious problem.
After some time Mr. Ray left for his own home land, because of a conspiracy hatched against the noble soul by the Christian brethren working under him to capture the power, controlling Tyndale Biscoe School and Mallinsons Girls High School. Miss. Premi Gergen played an ugly and unpleasant role in dislodging the noble soul, Mr. J.M. Ray later on, she too was paid in her own coin.
The Christians outside the state in the valley never encouraged the conversion in the apprehension of losing their economic power of holding educational missionary schools and residential places, converted into five star hotels. Faithless faithful Christians dictated those converted to Christianity. Those outsiders embraced Christianity for their accommodation in the community to transcend their low status into the societal manifold; their sincerity, fidelity and faith was questioned in the state so many times.
The objections to the presence of the priest in the office of Miss. Premi Gergen during school hours compelled Mr. Ray to vacate the school unwittingly with unshed tears. She too wanted to convert the school into the palace like other Christians who came down to live luxurious life, dictating missionary. Mr. Ray inducted Mr. Samuel to take revenge upon the Gergen.
Mr. Parvez.Koul, the shrewd and tactful took
