      She was so sick that her mother picked her up from her dorm room and drove her all the way back home, where she rested in bed and ate soup for a whole week.

      Every night her temperature was markedly higher, and her clogged nose prevented her from sleeping comfortably.

      Every morning she awoke with a burning dry mouth and sleep-breath.

      Sometimes she'd wake up with the bed drenched in sweat, while other times she had such bone-cold chills she'd go into the bath and soak in the burning hot water.

      Her mother scolded her for running up the water bill.

      It was a week of hell, and Lena had slept for most of the time, she could barely talk or eat, except for soup broth and bread. One afternoon, who knows how many days into that week, she lifted her laptop up to try to reach out
