Introduction
Soleri
tells of the intergalactic journey of three teens and their quest to rescue a peaceful race from a domineering species.
The Wentworth’s are quite an extraordinary scientific family. Jon, the father, is an electronics engineer who has created the world’s fastest computer transducer. Macy, his teenage daughter, has a fascination with biology while Wesley, his teenage son, is following right in his father’s footsteps as an electronics whiz kid. On an ordinary day, while their parents are out, Wesley uses his father’s new chip in the robot he is building for the school science fair. Upon installing the chip a combination of cell phone signals and an unusual meteor storm occur and create an anomaly with the robot; Wesley, Macy, their dog Pugston and Macy’s best friend Ashley are teleported to another planet in another galaxy.
They find that they have been teleported to the planet Soleri, which is over 820,000 light years from Earth. Giradious, the leader of the Soleriens, tells the teens of the Tojinians, another galactic race, who are holding the Soleriens as slaves. The Tojinians are trying to amass all the planet’s Setrinous, a high-protein grain, and are making the Soleriens grow it for them. The teens are also told of a significant attack that is imminent and that the Soleriens need to turn on their defense shield; the problem is that the shield controller is deep within the planet’s catacombs and is under the control of the Tojinian guards. Giradious informs them that without the shield activation he will not be able to send the teens back home.
Left with no choice, the teens are compelled to help the Soleriens in their struggle with tyranny in order to get themselves back home. Will they survive the perilous catacombs, creatures, and Tojinian guards? Will they turn on the defensive shield and make it home alive?
Chapter One:
The Journey Begins
It was a beautiful spring Wednesday morning in the small rural town of Etowah, Tennessee: 7:30 a.m. according to the kitchen clock. Everyone in the Wentworth household was busy getting ready for their day. Jon Wentworth was preparing for another day at the office. He put on his suit and headed downstairs to the kitchen. Kirstyn was already there, and he walked over and gave her a morning kiss on the cheek. How did you sleep, babe?
Oh, I slept like a baby. How about you; did you sleep well?
Kirstyn walked over to the counter and poured Jon a cup of coffee.
Jon took the cup from Kirstyn as he sat down at the table. I was up a lot. I guess I was worrying too much about the transducer, and getting excited about the possibility of an upcoming meeting with the selection committee. They are going to decide whether it will be going into production.
Jon added milk and sugar to his coffee.
How are you coming with that, anyway?
Kirstyn, with her back to Jon, mixed up pancake batter at the counter.
I am about three quarters of the way there. I just have some tests to run on it today in the lab and hopefully I can get the cooling temperature just right, or it is just going to melt the computer test board…again.
He took a sip of his coffee.
She poured some of the batter into a frying pan on the stove. Well, I know you will get it right, dear.

Meanwhile, the Wentworth teens, Macy, who was 17 and Wesley, 14, were upstairs getting ready for school. The two of them both came out of their room at separate ends of the hallway and ran toward the bathroom. Macy just beat Wesley, and she slammed the door in his face. Wesley began to pound on the door in frustration with his open hand. You better not take all day, Miss Prissy!
I will take as long it takes, you little twerp!
Macy’s voice rang out from behind the door.
He waited outside the door for what seemed like an eternity, then yelled down to his mother. Mom, Macy is hogging the bathroom again!
Wesley, get down here and eat your breakfast before it gets cold,
Kirstyn yelled back from the kitchen.
Wesley whined louder as he banged even harder on the bathroom door. But Mom, I need the bathroom!
Well, just come down here and use the guest bathroom if you have to go that bad.
Wesley, not being able to wait any longer, finally came down the stairs, stomping his feet all the way. Pugston, their black and white Pug and Boston Terrier mixed pup, was close behind him.
Well, another day, another dollar.
Jon stood up from the table. I’m outta here! I just hope I get to talk to my boss, Mr. Peters, about possibly meeting the committee on Friday afternoon.
It will go just fine, dear.
Kirstyn turned to face him. You need to stop worrying so much.
Thanks babe. I know I need to stop worrying, but this transducer project means so much to me and my career.
Jon kissed her goodbye and grabbed his briefcase off of the counter as he headed out to the garage.

After half an hour had passed, Macy finally came downstairs and walked into the kitchen. Mom, Ashley and I would like to go to the mall tomorrow night, and I was wondering if I could use the car.
We will have to see what happens with your dad’s meeting. As long as it is tomorrow night and not Friday, then it should be okay; let me talk to your father about it tonight.
Okay, thanks Mom.
Wesley sat at the table as he ate his breakfast and interjected, She just wants to go chasing boys is all.
Shut up, you little twerp!
Macy turned and slapped him on the shoulder.
Mom, Macy just smacked me!
Wesley whined as he rubbed his shoulder.
Kirstyn turned to face Macy as she shook her finger. That will be enough, young lady! Any more of that and you can forget about the mall altogether!
Just as Kirstyn finished scolding Macy, a special announcement banner came across the small television that sat on the counter. Wesley got up from his seat and ran over to the television to turn up the volume. The news anchorman turned to the weatherman on the screen.
John, I hear there will be quite a sight in the sky later this week.
Sam, you are absolutely correct. One of the largest meteor showers the Earth has seen in centuries will occur on Friday night.
The weatherman pointed to a map. The best areas for viewing will be the southern United States and Mexico. Now remember, all you space cadets, get out your telescopes and point them toward the eastern sky about 8:00 p.m. on Friday and you will see the show of your lives.
Wesley started to jump up and down in the middle of the room in excitement about the storm, and then ran up to Kirstyn, tugging on her sleeve. Wow, Mom! It would be so cool if I could see that. Do you think Dad will let me use his telescope?
Kirstyn had begun to clear the table. Yes, I bet that would be a sight and yes, I think he will let you use it if you’re careful. Now hurry up, you two, and get ready for school because the bus should be here any time.
Within minutes, Macy and Wesley had left the house and caught the large yellow school bus that was waiting out front. Macy boarded first and proceeded to the seats at the back of the bus to sit with her girlfriend, Ashley Hunter.
Macy sat down next her best friend. I asked my mom about using the car to go to the mall tomorrow night, and she said it depended on my dad’s big meeting with his engineering committee.
Hey, can we get together on Friday or Saturday to go over the biology project?
Sure Ash.
They arrived at the school and everyone exited the bus. Wesley quickly ran up to two of his best friends, Mike Demming and Don Smits, who were in front of the school monument.
Hey Mike, hey Don.
Hey Wes.
Mike and Don both replied.
Mike pushed Wesley lightly on the shoulder. How is it going with that robot contraption of yours?
It’s really getting there; it should be ready in plenty of time for the science fair next week.
As they all walked up to the school’s main entrance, Don asked, Wesley, when can we see it in action?
Wesley turned to him. "If I get its
