Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105).

As I look around there is one thing that I must acknowledge. It’s Rough Out Here! Bad news and negativity are everywhere. Partisan politics, senseless crimes, attacks on public schools, college tuition going through the roof, ever rising unemployment rates, massive home foreclosures, and health care costs are sky rocketing. That’s just local. Let’s not mention wars in the Middle East, genocide and starvation in Africa, and so on, and so on. But there is Good News! It’s found in the Word of God.

This devotional is full of Good News. It begins with a Scripture. His word is to be the lamp and light necessary to make clear the path His people are to walk daily. Next is a word of encouragement. Sometimes we see the path but need a nudge to get started. What follows is an application. This is intended to offer a method in which to live His word. Finally, each word of inspiration ends with a prayer. There is no success absent the power of God. This devotional ends with a daily prayer, recognizing and submitting to God’s sovereignty; His supreme authority to rule.

I am hopeful that this devotional will provide spiritual, mental and physical encouragement and inspiration to all readers. I pray that God will strengthen and keep you as you embark on this thirty-one day journey to empowerment.

Only do not rebel against the Lord; and do not fear the people of the land, for they shall be our prey. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.

As the Israelites prepared to take possession of the land promised to them by God, Joshua was attempting to change the way they saw things, their view. In order to receive what God promised, they first had to see things His way. They had two choices. Take a worldly view
