About this ebook
The main character in this story describes the kind of life he endured behind the walls of prison. The readers will experience with him the despondency encased by the high concrete walls and fortified by iron bars which he hopes would not last for long, but which hope almost turns evanescent. With hope turning into illusion and freedom becoming merely a dream, he begins to sulk in the darkest corner of the cell, resigned to the desperate view that the light of the outside world is not meant for mortals of his kind. Then suddenly the door of his cell sounds a terrible 'clang' and this opens a new hope
that ultimately delivers him to the outside world.
In the final analysis, the main character must confront two difficult choices, make the correct decision and be prepared to accept whose life he is going to destroy or build.

I am a sojourner. This is what I discover when they throw me into the appalling dungeon they call The National Rehabilitation Center which, however they euphemize, still cannot eradicate the stink of prison.
It is one sleazy day and I am jolted from deep thought when the iron bars sound a terrible ‘clang’ which means nothing but the opening of the door leading to my cell. The door gives way and a void prevails—in my thoughts, in my heart. But it isn’t for long. The burly figure is there once again and the routine evolution of his shadow which follows every opening of the heavy door is almost nonchalant except that, this time, there is a presage accompanying his coming. The keys which are hung on his waist sound a familiar tingling. He comes close to me, almost nailing me to the wall and, in what seems like a whisper, announces what every man in this forsaken venue would have dreamed of.
You’re lucky. You’re one of those whose names have appeared in the list. The guys in the higher-ups do not normally allow the likes of you to get some appointment with hope. In your case, you’ve made it because they believe you’re now rehabilitated,
the guard announces.
I don’t know what to say, what to do. The jail guard speaks in undertone but he does so succinctly. He is one of the creatures on earth
