Chapter 1: The Beginning
A Storm’s brewing,
said Carter as she looked out the window of our flat as the sky darkened with anger, as if nature knew something was going to happen. Several years have passed since the Dijon Affair and I’ve forgotten the terror that Carter felt in that hotel room laying there in her lace underwear, along with the letter that Carter had received.
We haven’t met up with any of Carter’s friends nor mine at that matter; Kenny was still stateside after departing after a few hard nights of partying. Samantha and Amanda were nowhere to be seen; rumour has it that they moved to the Mediterranean to seek out the playboys, the famous or the downright more money than sense of ugly richness.
The only person who we did see occasionally was Nicole, Nicole was still deadly as ever with her fuck me shoes and stockings and suspenders underneath a clean sharp business suit, rumour has it that she bought the security service handbook from Amazon after typing it in to search for Spooks the BBC drama. I never asked her this as I thought better of it, maybe it was all bullshit and that she was just tidying up her act as an upmarket drug dealer or call girl.
I walk away from the window overlooking Wardour Street, as the crowds come and go as the day lingers on, Carter just goes to the bed and cracks open a bottle of Absinth and grabs a nearby shot glass, the green liquid fills the shot glass, Carter just necks it down like its water and then lays on the bed.
I think you’re right a storm is definitely on the way
I reply as I take one last glance at the sky before lowering the blinds and proceeding to open a bottle of San Miguel and sitting on the bed next to Carter on this hot and muggy afternoon.
Carter replies I wasn’t talking about a natural storm
I glance at Carter and begin to wonder what Carter is on about, as she so coolly spoke like she knew something I didn’t. I knew about Carter’s dodgy past and that they were bits that Carter hid and kept hidden maybe for the better but was something about to catch up with Carter and that this would break into some kind of storm?
I was unsure, Carter just got up and decided to go to the laptop as she did she bought a disc out, the disc was purple on one side and a nice turquoise colour on the other going to rainbow colours as the light got reflected off the surface.
Carter just sat at the desk as she loaded the disc into the laptop, as she did the CD automatically booted, Carter just flipped on the stereo and played Queen of the damned original soundtrack, as she watched the screen load, the screen was a password screen. I approached the desk only to see Carter type in her name and clearance code.
What appeared on the screen seemed to be blueprints to a building or a computer system within an organisation,
