About this ebook
Poetry based on life experiences of a granddaughter and grandmothers generational perspectives
Lela Hills
Lela grew up on a small farm in southeast Kansas where she wrote poetry by kerosene lamp light. At the age of nine, she had her first poem published in a local newspaper. Her interest in creative writing followed throughout her life. A few selections are included here. Retired, she continues to do what she enjoys the most, writing short stories and poetry Holly grew up in Independence, Kansas. While growing up in a small town has its advantages, excitement is not always one of them so writing provided her with a means of escape. She wrote then and still writes, for love and adventure dreamed of, hoped for, and missed from her past. Putting this book together with her grandmother means a lot to her, as she feels they are the same person in a different skin.

This book is our way to share a deeper piece of ourselves with the people we love. It takes a lot to go out on this limb and we hope that our friends and family will step out here with us. Embrace it or not, we do not regret the decision to make and appreciate this collaboration. Without everyone and everything that made us who we are, we might not have reached this far or tried this hard. For those that believe in us, thank you!
