About this ebook
Those were the magic words and Beth knew it. How many times had I uttered that phrase to Ms. Robinson in guidance, the standard answer for what I wanted to do with my life? CHANGE THE WORLD. Did I still have the strength and determination to get it together and try to make a difference?
Was it my destiny, my vocation?
Or was I just trying to impress a girl?
As I looked at Beth, I wondered if the reason why even mattered.
The indefatigable Larry is back, and this time he takes on the American political system
After falling off the wagon and becoming what he so clearly and strongly resisted-a consumer-Josh Swensen (aka Larry) finds himself in a hyper-paranoid state of no return. That is, until he's kidnapped and coaxed into resurfacing as his old persona. Before long, Larry is back on the scene with much more on his mind than a gospel Web site-this time Larry wants to affect change in government. What starts out as a campaign to get the younger population to vote turns into a run for the presidency. Can Larry really take on George Bush?
In this very smart, very witty novel, Janet Tashjian brings the political world to the forefront and explores it from many different points of view.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Vote for Larry, by Janet Tashjian, takes up where an earlier novel left off in documenting its main character's ponderings on the state of corporate maleficence and its hold on the U.S. political system. This is all framed within him (Josh Swensen) being thrust into the limelight again against his will in what will become a run for the top position in the land. This is a story that proceeds at a good clip, can be coyly funny in spots, but still manages to come off as forced even for the farce that it is. Tashjian makes the mistake of placing formidable, real-life personalities into the action, a move that works elsewhere but only serves to call attention to the shortcomings of the storytelling here. An episode involving a sitting president at a rigged debate comes off more as vulgar to his character than expanding on his reputation. And rampant footnotes that try to humorously illuminate points Josh is trying to get across to the reader only succeed in being a little too precious, annoying, and ultimately ignorable. Let's hope Josh grows up and leads a normal life not worth noting in a third installment out of Tasjian's imagination. The book would be a good companion reading from the library to the study of high school civics, particularly on the electoral processes of the U.S. political system.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Larry is a write in candidate for president of the usa.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Had many of the great qualities from the first book, but so much of the story was implausible, and so many ends left loose. So idealistic that it was difficult to believe in the solution without the details of the journey to get there.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The second Larry book. Not as great as the first, but still interesting and compelling.
