About this ebook
Dark Echo is an unlucky boat. Despite this knowledge, Martin Stannard falls under her spell and prepares to sail her across the Atlantic with his wealthy father. But his lover Suzanne begins exploring the yacht's past. What she finds is terrifying.
Because this boat isn't just unlucky, it's evil. It was built for Henry Spalding, a soldier and sorcerer who committed suicide yet still casts his malevolent spell nearly a century after his death. Suzanne must uncover his last, terrible secret before Dark Echo destroys the man she loves.

Reviews for Dark Echo

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Evil is introduced immediately and unambiguously. Cottam fills in the depth and scope of its power with fascinating ghost "cameos" and bits of history leaving the reader in a vice of approach (anxious for the final confrontation) and avoidance (fear that the ultimate encounter will end badly, however conditioned we are to expect otherwise.) I have yet to be disappointed by a Cottam book. He never keeps the reader waiting for the first good scare and knows how to maintain an atmosphere of dread to the very end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A very intense ghost story that starts in wwI and the decadence of the roaring 20’s to be fought in this day and age. I absolutely loved it and will read it again!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Creepy story about a cursed ship and the evil satanist who captained her in the 1920s and still controls her and her crew, now a new generation. A bit slow. Creative, chilling horror of captain's death ritual and believable. Good Gatsby atmosphere.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another excellent ghost story from Cottom. Started slowly, but gathered pace. The characterisation was superb and I was really routing for them throughout the book .
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another great read from F.G. Cottam. I bought this on the back of enjoying Cottam's House of Lost Souls and I wasn't disappointed. I love the creepiness of Cottam's writing. This is true horror - unsettling and seeping rather than brash blood spattering. I think it's a clever writer who can unsettle the reader in a quiet fashion and the author achieves exactly this.Dark Echo is the story of a boat with a very troubled background. Harry Spalding the original owner has made a pact with the devil and his dark presence is felt in every corner of the book. The book flips in places between the present day and the past which enhances the reading experience. Ghosts abound throughout, some benign, some horribly evil and the whole tale adds up to a great read.
