About this ebook
Trouble follows Lucy wherever she goes. So does a vision of second chances . . . and love.
Lucy Fairbanks dreams of working as a photographer at the Rocky Creek newspaper. Her deepest hope is that her father will see her as an artist, the way he thought of her deceased mother, whose paintings still hang on their walls.
But disaster follows Lucy on every photo assignment: a mess of petticoats and ribbons, an accidental shooting, even a fire.
When Lucy meets David Wolfùa rugged, reclusive man who lives on the outskirts of townùshe thinks she can catch the attention of the town with his photograph. She doesn't count on her feelings stirring whenever she's near him.
Two things happen next that forever change the course of Lucy's life. But will these events draw her closer to God or push her further away? And how will David accept this new vision of Lucy?

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Lucy Fairbanks' passion for photography gets her into unusual situations. She's not afraid to take a risk if the reward earns her the title of artist or photographer. After ending up as a witness/almost-victim in a stage coach robbery, Lucy is saved by the mysterious David Wolf who is believed to be a wild man by the locals of Rocky Creek. Motivated by both gratitude and selfishness, Lucy attempts to vindicate David by photographing him for the local newspaper. Unfortunately, her plan backfires and places David's life in danger. But this isn't the first time that the town's inhabitants have tried to kill David. As a half-white, half-Indian child, he was ostracized and endangered. Twenty years later, he's back with a vendetta. As Lucy and David grow closer to each other, the mystery of David's past becomes an insurrmountable hurdle. Will their young love survive? Or will prejudices of the past keep them apart forever?A Vision of Lucy by Margaret Brownley is the third book in the Rocky Creek Romance series, but it is fine to read as a stand-alone novel. This book combined two of my favorite pastimes (reading and photography), but I wish it had been more engaging. Some books will draw me back to them whenever I have a free moment. Unfortunately, this one didn't. However, I did enjoy the photography quotes and learned some information about very old photography practices. I thought the characters of Lucy and Caleb were well-written and I honestly couldn't guess who the “fourth boy” was until he was revealed. A Vision of Lucy will probably be loved by some people and disdained as forgettable by others, a judgment depending solely upon personal taste. I recommend renting it from the library before buying.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this e-book free from Thomas Nelson via NetGallery. I was not required to write a positive review. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed Margaret's sense of humor in the midst of calamity and struggles.
The mystery intertwined throughout the book kept me reading.
It was a quick read that helped me escape into a different time for a bit. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A rollicking, delightful adventure, but also a look at the cruelties in life and how it can have lasting affects on people. The beginning pages start right off with the amazing predicaments Lucy is forever finding herself in. She wants so much to be a photograher who is taken seriously, but everyone from her Dad to the town newspaper editor doesn't give her any hope. When she finds herself in just the right spot for taking pictures of a stage hold-up she thinks she has hit success. but things just don't seem to ever go right for Lucy. She meets up with David Wolfe, a man the town folks think is a "wild man" and she is determined to prove the people wrong, but she only ends up making matters worse for David. (You will love the way he gets her to stop talking!) Then you find yourself trying to unravel the mystery of David's past and how it intertwines with 4 of the prominent men in town. There is laughter and delight all through the story, but also sadness and mystery and intrigue. It was a story that caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me guessing about how it would end. I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading this story and look forward to reading the other two stories in this series. I want to thank BookSneeze and Thomas Nelson Publishers for sending me this story for review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Lucy Fairbanks dreams of being a photographer for the local paper hoping to win her father's approval. But trouble follows Lucy where ever she goes leaving behind her a trail of mishaps and destruction. While trying to get a picture of the legendary white stallion from high in a tree she finds herself instead tangling with highwaymen trying to rob the stage. David Wolf has returned to Rocky Creek to gain something he lost long ago. When he sees Lucy in trouble he comes to her rescue. There is an immediate spark but Lucy doesn't plan on ever getting married and David knows for him a relationship is impossible because of his heritage. But the Lord has a way of shaking things up. Will it be enough for these two lost souls to find the peace and love they seek? What a fun and touching western romp! This is the first book I've read by Margaret Brownley and I can assure it won't be my last. I really enjoyed all the humor scattered throughout the story. Lucy was such a fun character because she was easily relate-able. She was a sweet and warm girl with lots of spunk! I really like that in a heroine. David Wolf was a hero that you just like right away. How he handled Lucy was so enjoyable to watch that there were several parts I went back an re-read. A lot of the story centered around something that happened 20 years earlier and how that not only shaped the lives of those involved but those close to the ones involved. That's really how life is. What we do doesn't affect just us but those close to us. The story also had to do with forgiveness. A great theme and a good reminder that although forgiveness is not always easy we are called to forgive as we have been forgiven. One thing that was really fun were the photography notes from Miss Gertrude Hasslebrink at the top of each chapter. They were a hoot. As I was reading this story I was thinking that this would make a great Hallmark movie. This is the third book in the Rock Creek Romance Series but I didn't feel lost having not read the other two. It does make me want to go back and read the other two though. A thank you goes to the author and Thomas Nelson for the complimentary ARC for my review.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Fiction; Historical Romance/Christian3 starsI didn’t realize that this was the third book in a series when I requested it from Netgalley, but it seemed fine to read it as a stand-alone.In this book, Lucy Bradshaw’s photography gets her in to all kinds of trouble. After photographing a local recluse, David Wolf, (for the Rocky Creek newspaper) to vindicate him of previous discrimination against him, Lucy realizes that she has put David in danger. As they grow closer, Lucy and David need God’s assistance to help them overcome the past and find true forgiveness.I liked this book and thought it was very well written. Having a passion for photography myself made that element of the story more interesting to me. While not a page turner, the story progressed steady enough to keep me reading to the end.It was a sweet, thoughtful story. I am glad I had the opportunity to read it. I would read more by this author in the future.
