About this ebook
From: Venus, Goddess of Love, 120 Main, Mt. Olympus
To: Stacy Temple, lapsed temptress
Stacy, Stacy, Stacy.
You were so promising at the beginning: Sexy, smart, personable and funny. Great on dates and really great afterward-if you know what I mean. But this is a sad state of affairs; or, in your case, non-affairs! It's been nearly an entire year and you haven't had your way with even ONE eligible male. You've been working so hard concocting sexy lingerie for Thongs.com -- and really, Stacy, if that little pink velvet bustier didn't put you in the mood, I don't know what to say! -- that you haven't even tried to be coaxed out of your own thong.com!
Are you listening, Stacy? Seven days to find the perfect man -- or else!
Happy hunting!

Reviews for The Accidental Virgin
6 ratings5 reviews
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Allow me, please, to give you a slightly better description than the book itself provides:Stacy is a woman who hasn't had sex in almost a year. A friend sends her an article that says that you become a virgin again if you go without for one year, so Stacy goes on a quest to get laid.There. Make more sense?Anyway: I enjoyed this book as a light piece of fluff. It wasn't deep, but it was easy to read and amusing.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Very smutty, quick read. Predictible and sort of sad. This woman looking for sex.5/26/03
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Ugh. There were only a few chapters toward the end that were cute and fun. The rest was degrading. As another reader put it: "The woman is running around like crazy willing to bring ANYONE to bed in order to not revirginize herself." Plus there's all sorts of sexual harassment (primarily her employers at a web-based lingerie business implying her job depends on pleasing a pornographer), the glorifying of said pornography, and even casual, callous treatment of drunk driving when Stacy mentions her parents' annual visit to the city from which they drive back having had too much to drink. It's as though Sam from Sex and the City behaved the way she did but didn't enjoy sex at all. Not cool. Some of the writing is cute though, like using the same few lines to describe the character periodically (what was it -- red of hair and pink of cheek? Something like that...) And the one plot element I liked was the attempts at meeting up with her neighbour but with timing issues, having them leave notes for each other instead. The blurb on the cover is from the Ottawa Citizen -- neat to see my daily featured but sorta implies that the New York Times, Chicago Tribune et. al. didn't have anything equally positive to say about this book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Better than average "chick lit." If you liked Bridget Jones, but have been disillusioned when you tried to find good books in a similar genre, give Frankel a try.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I wasn't too crazy about this book. The woman is running around like crazy willing to bring ANYONE to bed in order to not revirginize herself. Was a cute, funny, light read, but didn't really stimulate the intellect in any way.
