Bindi Irwin

17-year-old Bindi Irwin is an international award-winning wildlife conservationist and celebrity who has inherited her father's passion for wildlife and wild places. Born to Wildlife Warriors Steve and Terri Irwin, Bindi was quite literally born on television! In 2007, Bindi launched her clothing range, Bindi Wear International, in Las Vegas, and that same year she was awarded two Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, Fave Aussie and Biggest Greenie. Also in 2005, Bindi launched her very own TV show, Bindi the Jungle Girl. Bindi won an Emmy in 2008 and was nominated for an Emmy again in 2009. Bindi has co-created a range of books called Bindi Wildlife Adventures which have been launched in Australia, New Zealand in 2010 and the US in 2011. Released early 2010, Bindi played the lead-role in her first full-length feature film, Free Willy: Escape from Pirate's Cove and starred in her first cinema release film Return to Nim's Island in 2013! Bindi has dedicated her life to wildlife conservation and inspiring the next generation to make a difference in the world. She is a strong believer in kid empowerment and looks forward to spreading this message through her international filming work.

This was the holiday story I didn’t know I was looking seeking. I just wanted a holiday audiobook to help pass the time as I sorted gaylords of the books. I became engrossed. I couldn’t turn it off. Most of the 10 hours was a pleasure to listen to, even though I am not fond the of last few pages. So expected. It was odd when it started because it was a very british man reading this thoroughly typical bodice ripper but as the story progressed, it fit. It was like the narrator of A Christmas Carol telling me to warm my heart.Lady Sophie is a collector of broken and abandoned things. Usually horses, dogs, cats, etc. But this time around it’s a baby. And she has never been around babies. But this baby needs looking after. What ever will she do? Vim Charpentier is just another man. He is not in the holiday spirit at all, and all he wants to do is get to kent, visit his relatives and leave again. But here is a young woman with a baby, and no knowledge of how to take care of it.After offering a little help in getting the woman home, and teaching her to change a nappy, the snow in London gets too thick and heavy to travel though. Vim and Sophia are stuck. But love finds a way, when aided by a wiggling happy child.This was a near perfect love story. Very much reminded me why I read so many in my formative years. There was expected confusion between the characters, worrisome brothers, and steamy scenes. Overall just the right read to put not only the characters, but the read in the holiday mood.

I love Grace Burrowes books, yet for a number of reasons this book remained unread, or more properly halfread, before I picked it up.

This is a sweet tale that hooked me from the start. I could almost feel the cold, winds blowing. It was fascinating to read about Sophia's adaptation to taking care of a baby boy. She was a newbie, and she admitted it. Through Vim's gentle guidance she learns how to. But, she also falls in love. With Kit, which she admits. And with Vim. Which she doesn't admit to herself.

I fell in love with the characters. Sophia's generous heart, the way she picked up strays. Both animals, and humans.

Vim was everything a man should be. Generous, charming, handsome. I loved the way their romance blossomed through small touches. I also appreciated the fact that since they were alone for a big part of the book, they didn't have to hide behind facades.

There were heart wrenching parts. I could almost touch Sophia's loneliness, despite the fact that she have a large family. I understands it. When you reach a certain age, you need time to be alone. Then there is Vim. He really, really, doesn't want to go down to Kent. Not just because he doesn't want to leave Sophia, but for a number of reasons.

His upcoming departure hang between them. And causes some heartwrenching moments. Then there is Kit. Sophia knows she has to do the right thing, and foster Kit. And she really doesn't want to.

They have to fight to get their HEA. Oh, not literally, but they have to fight misunderstandings, and old wounds. And not to mention their families worry to do the right things.

Let's just say there are not just one, but two meddling Lords in this book.

But their HEA left me with a satisfying feeling. Which is the way a romance novel should make you feel.

So, what I didn't like. First, the setup felt... unrealistic. What likelihood is it that an duke's daughter would have been allowed to remain unchaperoned, without even a maid?

Second, this tale bordered slightly too close to being an 100 000 words viginette. I think one reason is that the conflict only comes from internal conflict, and to some degree misunderstanings.

Except for this, I enjoyed the story. But it will never be one of my favorite Windham books.

I don't read many holiday themed books but I loved this one. It was sweet, but ever so tantalizing. Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish is a story of longing, hope and love. Ms. Burrowes does an excellent job pulling at your heartstrings. If you are looking for a cozy seasonal read this is definitely one to check out.

Sophie Windham has found a few days to herself before her brothers come. Then she finds herself with a abandoned baby, whose mother just up and left him. So its up to her to care for him. But there is one catch...she has no clue how to take care for a baby? What is she to do? But then she is saved by Vim Carpentier. When Vim see's a lone woman lookiug more lost than ever taking care of a child, he offers his services. What he doesn't know is that one night helping Sophie will turn into days, and he won't be able to stop himself from being captivated by her beauty and sweet spirit. Even though her brothers interrupt his plans, he knows what he wants..but how much is he willing to fight for her? Even though this story is a Christmas themed, this is the type of story that can be read any time of the year. Even though there is a part of me that wished that I had read this one a couple of months ago. However I found myself truly enjoying this story, and once I started reading and getting into the plot, I was very into it and I had a difficult time putting it down. The way Grace Burrowes weaves a story is remarkable, I loved her descriptions that made the scenes come alive in the readers mind. It was so fun to see Sophie and Vin interact with each other, and I enjoyed having a infant as part of the story, it definitely livened things up. I found Lady Sophia's Christmas Wish a entertaining read, that fully engages the reader with sharp witty humor, and a fun and sexy plot, and lets be honest who can resist a man who is able to handle himself changing a diaper or feeding a baby? A Sensational read and I would recommend it to any lover of historical romance or even just romance in general.

I really, really loved this regency holiday romance, better than most! First in her Duke's Daughters Series, Lady Sophia Windham, daughter of the Duke of Moreland, unexpectedly finds herself having to take care of an infant baby boy. Knowing nothing about babies and nappies and feeding and bathing she is thankful when Vim, Lord Sandal comes to her aid. Stranded in London, he happens to know all about these things, and during a blizzard they meet by chance at an inn and he winds up showing her all she needs to know. She lets him stay at her empty ducal house in London, posing as a housekeeper. Over the course of two weeks, they become close and fall in love. Not only with Kit, the baby, but with each other as well, yet neither is aware of the others feelings. Tender, funny and very sexy as well. A great read!

n this new series from Burrowes it is time for the Windham sisters to find love and we start with Sophie.

This book is different from the 3 about the brothers. This one is slower, not in a bad way, but the other books had their big secret and a bit of drama connected to that. While this one had a more peaceful pace and even if there was passion it was not as big. I will get to the reason of this all soon enough.

Sophie has been out for a long time, but she has yet to marry. She is the sensible daughter who takes in strays cats and limp horses. She is quiet and nice and she is all alone in a big house with a baby that was left behind. In comes our hero who she meets and who helps her. This book is also as much about the baby as it is about these two. Vim stays to help, he a good man, nice, helpful and falling for a woman who he does not know is a Duke's daughter. That is where the tiny drama comes in, mostly because of a misunderstanding.

I liked how they grew closer together thanks to the baby. They cared for him together and fell in love (and lust). There is where the stillness of this book comes in, for a long time it is just the two of them and baby Kit. Then when it changes the tone of the book changes to a bit, the stillness is not as still, but there is still a calm as forces try to get them together.

Conclusion:
A nice Christmas tale about love and family.

An interesting role reversal enhanced this common isolated in a snowstorm holiday romance but the characters went overboard ruminating about impossibility of relationship then predictably behave totally opposite. Lady Sophie finds herself with an abandoned baby and Vim helps her learn how to take care of it.

There's nothing historical in that novel. A few horses and some noble titles don't make a historical romance. Who would believe an early 19th man would know so much about babies when even mothers at that time didn't know a quarter of what he knows. And really a duke's daughter who would stay at home on her own without any servants and who would do the cooking and all the housework. Nonsensical.
It was very hard to get to the end. Boring, boring, boring.

Just an FYI: this book technically takes place *after* Val's story, despite the fact that that book isn't due out for a few month. It could be seen as a spoiler, since there is talk of his wife and what he is doing now, but they are minor and shouldn't detract from the book itself when it comes out. (I mean, really, 90% of the time a romance novel is not about who they're going to end up with but how.)

Lady Sophie unexpectedly must care for a baby alone in the run-up to the Christmas holidays. A chance encounter with one Vim Charpentier and a worsening snow storm mean she is stuck in the family's London home with Vim over the course of several days. Much loving on a baby and falling for one another ensue. And then complications. I enjoyed this holiday romance novel well enough, though it felt perhaps a little overlong? Maybe I only felt as much because I haven't read the earlier entries in the series and therefore wasn't as invested in the occasional chapter following other members of Sophie's family. But the tender moments between Sophie and Vim as well as the overall feel of the book (and the delightful and never twee interactions among the characters and the baby) convince me that I should read more of the series. I'll start at the beginning this time.

My favorite type of 'unusual' Regency Christmas romance!This is probably my fourth or so reading about Lady Sophie and Vim Charpentier and it still delights and gives me the warm fuzzies. I adore Sophie and Vim!Both of these people are endearing, loveable and different. Lady Sophie Windham has found herself in possession of a few stolen days in the family mansion, by herself! A pleasure she's determined to take advantage of. Vim Charpentier is passing through London enroute to discovering conditions on his estates. He's received urgent missives from both his Uncle and Aunt.But fate intervenes and Vim and Sophie find themselves trapped in London by the winter storm and circumstances. The inclusion of an unlooked for baby as the piece that holds these two together is enchanting.The 'rescue' scene and resultant journey with Sophie's brothers is humorously adorable, especially as these hulking brothers try to overwhelm Vim! They are so protective of their sister. (A tad late is all I can say!)Grace Burrowes is one of my top historical romance writers and her Duke's Daughters series, including Lady Sophie, is right up there.Pleasurable at the first read, this wonderful Christmas romance never disappoints.A Sourcebooks Casablanca ARC via NetGalley
