About this ebook

Software and technological entrepreneur Huie, who came to a search for deeper meaning later in life, has teamed up with artist and writer, Radmacher, who came to it earlier through her art. Point and counterpoint, they take the reader through a process to taking charge of their own lives.

The key to living an inspired life is simple: accept your past; release your expectations; embrace your choices. The truth of the matter is that the more we like ourselves, the fewer expectations we have, and the way we make conscious choices -- in everyday matters large and small are the keys to living an inspired life.

Simply an Inspired Life teaches readers to distinguish between events and our feelings about them, to choose thoughtfully, and never blame ourselves or anyone else. Filled with inspiring quotes -- wisdom from the ages and all traditions, personal stories, and exercises, Simply an Inspired Life is based on eight guiding principles: honor, forgiveness, gratitude, choice, vision, action, celebration, and unity with all creation. They are equally important -- and practiced daily they change lives. www.simplyaninspiredlife.com

I received this through Early Reviewers giveaway. I couldn't even get all the way through it. There is nothing new in it and it just seemed like a big ad for their upcoming seminars. Nothing is cohesive and it felt like it was written in a big hurry. The two authors take turns writing and it seems as though they just stuck their pieces together instead of actually collaborating.

I've read the other reviews, and it's true the book doesn't really tell anybody anything new. What i liked about it is the inspiration that both writers shared in the book from their own lives, and they suggested some tips on how to put SAIL into practice. The book reminds me of Eckhart Tolle work, which was enlightening, and this work supports that. Glad i got to read it.

This book would have been better titled Death By Metaphor. It was full of trite references and was one of the worst books I have read recently. Save yourself the time - life is too short to read bad books.

Blah, Blah, Blah . . . this book was terrible. While initially an interesting concept of two authors it quickly became annoying because it wasn't as if they were having a conversation, but more talking over each other. Neither was adding anything to what the other was saying. I spent a long time trying to ascertain exactly who JLH was and what his qualifications were for writing a self-help book. I also found it quite conceded that of the many quotes through out the book the majority are attributed to the authors of the book - as if we weren't already getting enough of what they had to say and that there are so very few other worthwhile quotes out there in the world. I found unbounded happiness when I counsciously chose not to continue reading this book.

One of the problems self-help book authors face is that they must parse their words carefully; one careless comment can lose them their reader. When I read a self-help book, I start with an open mind, but if the author makes a comment that is untrue, he or she has lost my trust. On page 38, Jonathan defines "assumption" to be "a guess, belief, or hope, without any factual basis, that something is true" and then he includes as an example of an assumption "the earth is round." That is when he lost me. No matter how many times I've tried to read ahead, I keep coming back to that erroneous example. I was already struggling with this book. Since the authors choose to interweave their own writings rather than collaborate on one voice, the book is choppy and disjointed. Even the font changes regularly to identify each author's voice. I would describe my experience more as trudging through a chapter than as an enjoyable read. It is clearly not for me.

Simply an Inspired Life by Mary Anne Radmacher and Jonathan Lockwood Huie was not all that inspiring. There were some good quotes and affirmations but I was turned off by the alternate writing style. It seemed to discourage a consistant flow of thought. The writing was long-winded and difficult to follow. Although, there are some good ideas and advice to be had in this book, ultimately the writing failed to inspire.
