At a very young age I was heading to Australia on a humanitarian visa with my relatives, leaving my mum and dad behind who had divorced at the same time. I came to Australia at the age of five. I knew from a very young age I could not control my situation, so I decided to focus on my studies to aid in a brighter future for my family.
Adjusting to the Australian language and culture was my biggest obstacle young and uncertain how I would navigate myself through, I utilised sports to teach me discipline and a sense of belonging. Having to work to support myself in my young adolescent years is a testament to my determination to succeed in the future.
As a writer I love to evoke the imagination of my readers to question or reflect their adverse experiences. As a former refugee it is hard to share my world, so I apply poetry as a way to portray my Journey as a refugee. I finished my schooling at Sacred Heart Senior College, and I am now approaching graduation in a bachelor degree of Journalism and Professional Writing. I hope to inspire other migrants who are embarking on a similar journey in the hope of showing them all is possible with a little persistence.view less
