When his father told him he would have to buy the Go Cart himself if he wanted it, he started his first business. Buck refurbished an old chicken coop on his grandfather’s property in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, borrowed the money from his father to purchase 30 chickens and opened an egg supply business. His mother drove him to a local church every other day where he sold all of his eggs to the church’s meal outreach program. This continued until he reached his goal. He paid off the loan from his father, purchased the Go Cart, sold his chickens at a profit and deposited a small “nest egg” in his savings account. Since that time, sales have been a continuing successful part of Buck’s life.
Buck honed his sales skills while selling books door to door in the summer of his junior year in college. In doing so, he learned to turn every “no” into a positive, seeing every “no” as one step closer to a “yes”.
Buck is married with three grown children and has lived all of his life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he also attended LSU. Since starting his childhood egg business, he has wholly owned or been a partner in 10 businesses, some simultaneously.
Buck is currently the owner and President of several companies; Puerto Rico International, which supplies welders to chemical plants and refineries, Gladco Inc., a real estate company and Gladden Sales, which manufactures and sells safety tags to chemical plants and refineries. Gladden Sales holds the patent for two of Buck’s inventions - “Gladtags”, a tagging system for scaffolds and “Scooterport”, a stand for scooters that can be used as a single scooter stand or snapped together for a series of multiple scooter stands. Gladden Sales opened a subsidiary business, Gladden Sales, Inc.- Publishing Division in 2011, to launch Buck’s first eBook.
In 2011 Gladden Sales was recognized as one of the top 100 fastest growing businesses led by a former LSU student. In 2012 Gladden Sales was recognized as the 10th fastest growing business in the LSU 100.view less
