My background is in case management, child welfare, and childcare. After I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Masters of Social Work, I started out as a family reunification caseworker in Washington, DC.
I was drawn back to childcare after my family moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia. I became a Childcare Licensing Inspector for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
After moving back to the Washington, DC area many years later, I took a similar job as a Childcare Licensing Specialist with the State of Maryland. I left that job during the first year after I had my son.
While I no longer work as a state Childcare Inspector, as a mother of a preschool boy, I’ve used all the knowledge and experience that I’ve acquired to make an informed decision about my son’s childcare.
In this season of my life, I want to use that knowledge and experience to empower parents to feel confident in their abilities to choose good quality childcare for their children.view less
