I was born to George and Christine Schattel on June 29, 1937, in a small farmhouse in Beasley, Texas. I grew up with my sister Charlotte who was one of the wonderful helps that I had. From my earliest childhood memories, I was taught about Jesus from my parents and grandparents. I was always in 4-H Club, showing Brahma cattle and riding in barrel races in Youth Rodeo. Since then, my life has been filled with teaching piano, ministering in state and county prisons and nursing homes, and substitute teaching. I thought my life was fulfilled by having three beautiful children, but then I had grandchildren. It was a wonderful extension of my motherhood. It causes me to look forward in my life to having great-grandchildren.
The God of my youth has stayed very real to me all these seventy-three years. I consider my life a servant to the Lord and others.
