What our readers think
Readers find this title to be filled with outdated and contradictory advice, making it not helpful for women with PCOS. The narration is also criticized for mispronunciations and being hard to listen to. There are better books available for women with PCOS.

A hormonal disorder known as polycystic ovarian syndrome affects about 10% of young women. Women with PCOS frequently have insulin resistance the body’s inability to use insulin effectively, resulting in an excess of insulin in the body. PCOS is also distinguished by an increase in androgens or male hormones production. These hormonal imbalances can disrupt metabolic and reproductive processes.

This author has just repeated what she’s read in dozens of women’s magazine articles and interspersed this with her own history. Many pronouncements are out of date (avoid fats) dangerous (drink juice and eat crackers if hungry) and often contradictory. Not at all helpful.
