About this audiobook

Roger not only had to prove himself to the Council, he also had to prove himself to Wyndham Wrenwhistle.

Fae and humans alike are returning to London for the Season, but the excitement is marred by the growing poverty rate among humans with low magical scores.

Tenacious Roger Barnes proposes a new rubric for testing magic to the Council, hoping to resolve the predicament for his fellow humans. But when he is paired with Wyndham Wrenwhistle, a dashing fae who has disliked him since childhood, the project seems destined to fail. Even after reaching a tentative truce, their fragile partnership crumbles due to malicious lies.

Adding to the disarray, a popular gossip column unexpectedly announces that Roger and Wyn are engaged. Obliged to go along with the falsehood to save their families from scandal, they are forced to reconcile their differences for the sake of the rubric — and for their impending marriage. As the project bleeds into their wedding plans, the pressure to flawlessly execute both mounts even higher.

Together, they have the chance to solve a crisis decades in the making — but they'll need more than magic to succeed.

Wyn and Roger's story was magically delicious and so very romantic. It didn't seem like a gay romance, but rather a human being romance. The cast of characters were very diverse with everybody doing their own thing. This story was fun, enjoyable and delightful. I could feel the sunshine of their Love as it touched my world. This story made me smile. Thank You Ms Wallace and Ms Callahan for sharing your imagination with mine. Also, Thank You for choosing Matt Simpson as your narrator, no one could have done it better; he was awesomeness.

Such a sweet romance. I enjoyed this story immensely. The world building in particular related to their magical growth was so fun to hear and the way they grew as people and a couple was believable and sweet.

This was a wonderful little story and the description of the wedding ceremony was one of the most beautiful I've read in a while. I love how the concept was really close to works like the Bridgerton series, but at the same time very different.

such a disappointment, chemistry is lacking, characters are annoying, and social and/or economic aspects are actively mocked at every step of the story

Cute setup but I can't get past the poor quality of the recording. So much saliva sound, super distracting.

I'm glad I decided to give this a chance, despite a very bad first impression.
The first thing I noticed was the atrocious narration which almost made me shut off the audiobook immediately. The narrator himself was mediocre, but the quality of the recording was so bad that I don't know how it made through to publication. Isn't there supposed to be quality checks?
The microphone was clearly subpar with no pop filter, and often you'd hear feedback or background noice which was very distracting. 0/5 stars for that experience.

However, the story itself surprised me in a good way. At first I thought I would hate it, given how Wyn acted as a spoiled, rude and unremorseful bully towards Roger. However, his growth and slow warming up to Roger felt natural and eventually convinced me that maybe he wasn't so bad. Perhaps I was blinded by writing and how the authors portrayed the romance, but I guess that underlines their ability to tell a good story.
3/5 stars for story and writing itself.
But please. Never EVER use that narrator again. I beg you.

    Omg DO NOT READ THIS

It’s long af, the plot is forced and nonsensical, Roger someone without qualifications who’s 30 and acts 16 gets task with a test and has no qualifications and the gets together with his bullied like in 5 mins
They went from this like each other to love without development
Argh waste of time and potential
