I loved this book right until the final chapter in which he gives a sample timeline for how an author can build their income up to $1,000 a month.

Up until that point, I found his advice engaging, down to earth, and sensible and was ready to give this book five stars. It was especially refreshing how he tells new indie authors to focus on the basics (craft, mailing list, and productivity).

His concept of a book as not a product but an advertisement was very insightful, and I feel that reframing my approach in this way will be tremendously helpful.

But the timeline at the end was unrealistic and, frankly, discouraging. I will listen to the book again and will probably also get the ebook version, but I'll ignore the timeline.

I highly recommend this to indie authors just starting or trying to reboot their careers. It may actually be even more helpful to authors who've made all the mistakes and want to try again.
