About this audiobook

Audiobook Read by the Author.

You’re invited…

to a timeless party in a Secret Garden.

Expect to come back transformed.

Kelsey Willoughby doesn’t have time to pursue her dream of writing a novel. Imagination doesn’t pay the bills, and she’s busy saving her beautiful bookshop from online competition, hotel developers, and the sneaking suspicion that nobody reads anymore.

Not to mention all those voices telling her she doesn’t have talent.

But then the vacant lot of weeds next door starts to shimmer.

When Kelsey stumbles into a luminous nighttime garden party, larger than the vacant lot that holds it and filled with enigmatic guests, she suspects they hold the key to saving the bookshop, and perhaps even to her own mysterious origins.

But answers aren’t forthcoming, not until Kelsey is willing to confront her past, step into her potential, and push deeper into the unknown edges of the garden, where an unexpected journey takes her into a world of dangerous revelation.

~With evocative prose and a deeply-embedded mystery, the magical realism of Nightfall in the Garden of Deep Time immerses readers in a delicious adventure of creativity and the arts. A must-read for anyone pursuing a creative life.

I loved this mysterious book. So many questions answered... so many left to ponder.

I can't follow the story...the author is reading too quickly, voice doesn't change much with different characters, there are no natural breaks, as if she was in a hurry to tell the story ... pity.

What a delightful story! Loved it and really enjoyed the lesson of having bravery to pursue creativity and create beauty no matter the medium!

Good premise; however, the ebook and audio book don't match, which was disconcerting. I would have preferred a narrator who does different voices for the different characters. In hindsight, I might have enjoyed this book more if I'd read it instead of listening to it. That said, the premise is unique and the plot interesting.

An enjoyable story. Even though I correctly predicted all the plot twists but one, it was still so fun to hear them be revealed, and an EXCELLENT premise. I looked forward to my commute just so that I could listen.

This is an exquisite story badly read by its author. She should have hired a pro audiobook reader to do her marvelously magical and heartfelt story justice. Really, Ms. Higley, for shame. Acting is not as easy as it looks, and no, not just anybody can do justice to an audio recording. And even with the subpar reading, the story is so very good, I got past the reading. The characters are completely believable and real and I cared about what happened to them. The situations, while magical, all make sense for the story being told. Every creative person who struggles to balance their survival with practicing their art should read this story and take heart. It moved me deeply, even while I want to smack the author for her hubris in thinking she could read it. I want to give it 5 stars, but I won't because of the performance. Get the e-book or physical book and read it, if you don't think you can get past the performance.
