About this audiobook

ABC News chief meteorologist Ginger Zee pulls back the curtain on her life in Natural Disaster. Ginger grew up in small-town Michigan where she developed an obsession with weather as a young girl. Ginger opens up about her lifelong battle with crippling depression, her romances that range from misguided to dangerous, and her tumultuous professional path. This cyclone of stories may sound familiar to some—it's just that Ginger's personal tempests happened while she was covering some of the most devastating storms in recent history, including a ferocious tornado that killed a legend in the meteorology field.

This book is for all the mistake makers who have learned to forgive others and themselves—even in the aftermath of man-made, or in this case Zee-made, disasters. It's a story that every young woman should read, a story about finding love and finding it in yourself.

Beloved by Good Morning America's audience, Ginger is a daily presence for millions. Zee's gained fame for her social media presence which is as unfiltered as Natural Disaster—from baby barf to doggy doo-doo. She's shattered the glass ceiling for women in meteorology, but admits here first, she's the one natural disaster she couldn't have forecast.

Ginger Zee

Ginger Zee is the chief meteorologist at ABC News. You see her covering the nation's weather headlines on Good Morning America and across all ABC News broadcasts and digital platforms. Zee also hosts an ABC News original digital series "Food Forecast," focused on climate and its impact on agriculture. Zee's love of adventure does not stop at studying the atmosphere in the center of the storm. She para-hawked in Nepal, para-glided in the Himalayas and the Andes, dove with sharks in the Bahamas, rappelled 27 stories down the exterior facade of the Wit Hotel in Chicago, plus has gone ice boat racing and surfing. She lives in New York City with her husband and son.

Such a great book. I am shocked and relieved to know that even someone as glamorous as Ginger Zee deals with things most people wouldn’t dream about. Thank you for opening up. I just now started my own mental health journey. You are remarkable.

I have always enjoyed Ginger Zee's appearances on the national news, and so when I saw this book at the library I thought it might be a good choice. It was. Although it is sometimes hard to follow the sequence of events (sometimes they are out of order), and I would have liked a little more insight into the everyday job of a meteorologist (as opposed to the extreme adventures and unusual occurrences), it's otherwise an absorbing, refreshing read. She is very honest about her struggles, but this is no generic tell-all. I really enjoyed this candid, funny, honest memoir.

I didn't know much about Ginger Zee until I came across this book of hers. I have seen her for some time on World News Tonight with her brief cameo appearances on weather stories. This was quite an eye opener as she puts it all out there in her natural disaster style and flare. She has led a very eventful and dramatic life up to now. I was surprised by her candor on her personal issues but it added to the realness of the person you see on camera. One thing she makes clear is that despite her looks she is much more than another pretty face weather person. She is in fact a dedicated meteorologist who takes pride and passion in her work. And that she is the Chief Meteorologist for ABC News says a lot.I found the writing entertaining with many insights to her work and coverage of events. But it also gave us a perspective on how we all usually have to deal with the curveballs that life can throw at us and still prevail if we commit ourselves to developing our talent and pursue our goals against the setbacks that will always be there.
