About this audiobook
After escaping the trauma of the Umbrella Lady’s home, thirteen-year-old Saffron Faith Anders is determined to find the father who abandoned her all those years ago. But when she finds him in a nearby town, Saffron is shocked to discover that he has married a woman he clearly had been involved with before her mother’s death. Worse, her father insists Saffron pretend to be his niece so he can continue to con his new wife’s family. Desperate for her father’s love, she goes along with the farce, but it soon becomes clear that perhaps it is better to face the world alone than trapped in a toxic and potentially dangerous family.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I couldn’t wait to read this I was a little disappointed with the ending. But I did love the book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I have read this story twice, and found it much more enjoyable the second time around, due in part to Ms Lawrence's great performance in the audiobook version of the story I listened to as the second reading.
This part leaves me with many more question, like: Who was Mazy really? And why was she so secretive about her life, even at the conclusion of her life? Why did Amos Saddlebrook seem so fond of Saffron from the get go? Is he something else to Saffron?
Will there soon be a part 3 of the Umbrella series? After the first tear through via print, I did not care, but now, I want to hear more of Saffron's story! If this follows the older VC andrews story formula, will we hear Mazy's or Amos's point of view eventually? - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I felt cheated it ended quickly and not the usual hype from V.c. Andrew’s
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I can't wait for the 3rd book! I wish it was a bit longer though.
