Tom Watson

Early in his career Tom worked in politics, including a stint as the Chief Scriptwriter for the Governor of Ohio. This experience helped him develop the unique, storytelling narrative style of the Stick Dog books. Tom finds it a lot more fun and rewarding writing stories for kids rather than writing speeches for grown-ups. He lives in Chicago with his wife, daughter, son and of course, his dog.

Having read the first Stick Dog which is about hamburgers its not surprising that book two is all about hot dogs and book three will be all about cheese pizza. The main character and his poorly drawn canine companions live at the park and their attempts to keep their tummies full are narrated and illustrated by author Tom Watson. The story is as funny as Captain Underpants but it relies less on bathroom humor. I enjoyed all the puns and definitions used by the dogs and the narrator.
