- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What started off as a nostalgia trip to my death metal days turned into an almost coming of age tale. Fighting personal demons, peer pressure, and just trying to survive with only the grinding feel of the 80’s and 90’s metal and thrash scene to sustain you.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Largely intelligently written modern fiction work, which is rare these days. As someone who grew up in rural Florida in the 70s and 80s (and is married to someone who also did AND was in a metal band) I connected well with the environment and circumstances the main characters started off in. Compelling story until the plot ends up in Norway, at which time it almost started to feel like a different book, hence the loss of a star. I would’ve taken off 1.5 stars if I could have. Still, an interesting and engaging read and I would like to explore other books from the same author.
