About this audiobook
It wasn#8217;t that long ago that black citizens had to move to the back of the bus. In this stirring collection, NPR tells stories large and small: of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, and the March on Washington; of Pullman porters, an invaluable green book, and women who baked pies to support the Montgomery bus boycott. Personal recollections and historical accounts paint vivid pictures of individuals and events that transformed a nation.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5After reading two historical fiction books on the civil war, I came across this audio-book format dramatization quite by accident. As expected from NPR it was extremely well done. Historical documents read by and small vignettes told by various personalities bring the voices of the Civil War to life. Well worth the listen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So yes, not technically a book, but I sure am glad SLPL's OverDrive has so many of these great compilations available. This could have been 5 times as long and it would barely scratch the surface.
