About this audiobook

A WILD, DANGEROUS LOVE

Amelia Howard cherishes her desert country. The dazzling colors, white heat, and rough sensuality of west Texas stir her very soul. But there's a serpent in her paradise: King Culhane. A towering sunburned cowboy with silver eyes that miss nothing, he's a man she's come to despise-no matter how much she had worshiped him when she was younger.

As her father pushes her to secure a marriage proposal from King's mild-mannered brother in order to marry into the Culhane dynasty, Amelia assumes the mask of a demure young lady, always correct and obedient. It's a posture that King holds in contempt. Yet when she reveals the true force of her feelings, she unleashes a smoldering passion that cannot be denied. And everything-propriety, filial duty, even love-will be scorched in the wake of such all-consuming desire.

What I didn’t like about this book was that it was the saddest book I have ever heard. I am surprise that it was written by one of my favorite authors. I will not listen to this book ever again. I give this one a thumbs down.

This is what I read Diana Palmer for! Mean and angsty!

Amelia made him feel as if tender fingers were stroking his heart. He wanted her until it was painful....“I want that, too,” he said roughly. “You in my arms, your mouth abandoned to mine, the aching pleasure of feeling you against me completely. But if I hold you, no power on earth will tear you from my arms until morning. And that I will not have. The next time you come to me will be honorable and lawful. God forgive me, Amelia, I never thought to bring you such shame and pain.”Amelia is a historical western romance with the usual Diana Palmer angst and cruel hero except with darker and triggering subjects than I am use to. Amelia is in love with King, except he finds her too passive. What he doesn't know is it is mask in order to keep her abusive father calm. King can't help his attraction towards her and even belittles her because he is angry at himself for not being able to resist her. Amelia's father wants her to marry his younger brother which angers King even more to the point where he gives into temptation just so he can be her first. There is the usual angst and drama that pulled on my heartstrings. I always enjoy how Diana Palmer writers her heroines and cruel heroes. This would've been a five star read for me except I didn't enjoy the plot twist or the second half of the story. It added to the drama, but also separated the story making it feel completely different. But I did like that king turned himself around and tried to grovel, somewhat. This is a great read if you really want a sweet heroine pining after a cruel hero who belittles and thinks badly of her, but can't resist her!Warning, there are triggering scenes of abuse in this and some forced seduction (not really in my opinion because I know Diana Palmer's writing but other's may see it differently).
