About this audiobook

Stacey Dash didn't have the ideal American childhood. Growing up in the South Bronx, her friends were the hustlers, hookers, and gang members who struggled in the face of futility, who sold drugs instead of living on food stamps, who settled matters with fists, knives, and guns because it seemed their only option, who stood tall against broken dreams. Dash's rough upbringing shaped the rest of her life-her relationships, her politics, even her faith. She has seen how conservative and liberal policies play out in the real world, and her experiences have made her the proud conservative she is today. That's why Stacey Dash, a Fox News contributor and Hollywood actress best known for starring in the 1995 classic Clueless, is now telling her story. Amidst all the heated racial rhetoric and the divisive language that flows from T.V., the Internet, self-appointed black spokespeople, and even President Obama, Dash feels compelled to speak out and say something true about race, politics, and America.

I was in about three chapters when I thought “I cannot listen to this a second longer!”
Then I said, wait, be fair listen and see what she is really about.

First off, I will not get into the political thing because It serves no purpose and I can outtalk her on a great many of her partisan talking points. I will just take it all as HER opinion, (like she said. We all have one). EVERY president makes mistakes dear girl.

I will however, comment on her rhetoric about STAYING MARRIED because it saves everything, your life, your kids life etc. That adage would be perfect if the world were perfect, it is not.

People divorce for many reasons some of which she had endured WITHOUT the “benefit” of marriage, with the insane brutality she subjected herself to by going back to the man time and again who beat her so badly she finally had to threaten his life with a gun (that she got rid of). WHAT? She admits that MEN are her Achilles heel, well sweetie you can’t accept a thing and look down your nose at it at the same time. -- (a line from Practical Magic).

This novel was written (I hope) before donald trump was president and I am curious about how she feels now about her party that unanimously would not give Merrick garland a HEARING (just a hearing), Subjecting Katonji Brown-Jackson to what could only be seen as an oral lynching during her conformation hearing (and after some of them, like Lindsey Graham voted for her previously) What changed? It’s because their base demanded it and they went with it and they are afraid of losing their jobs. (Darn! I said I was not getting into a political debate)

Okay back to HER, she constantly talks about people (especially black people who in her opinion should GET OVER SLAVERY) how a woman should stand on her own two feet and make her own way, and not let any man tell her what she can and cannot do. Yet she LIVED with practically every man she ever dated and married ones at that, allowing some of them to “keep” her even telling her that she can stay and enjoy the privileges he afforded her as long as he can continue to dally with other women and continue to give her stds.
Others SHE took care of working her butt of trying to stay together. Why didn’t she INSIST that they get out and get a job?

I applaud that she pulled herself away from a troubled childhood with drug addicted parents and molestation and that she overcame her own addictions, that she made a way for herself as best she could. But I also grieve for her misguided rhetoric on the party she affiliated herself with, but I would fight for her right to choose.
I know she think she is right about everything she said in her novel, but I guess we just have to agree to disagree.
