About this audiobook
Thomas Sowell's provocative critique of liberalism's failures
The Vision of the Anointed is a devastating critique of the mindset behind the failed social policies of the past thirty years. Thomas Sowell sees what has happened not as a series of isolated mistakes but as a logical consequence of a vision whose defects have led to disasters in education, crime, family disintegration, and other social pathology. In this book, "politically correct" theory is repeatedly confronted with facts-and sharp contradictions between the two are explained in terms of a whole set of self-congratulatory assumptions held by political and intellectual elites. These elites-the anointed-often consider themselves "thinking people," but much of what they call thinking turns out, on examination, to be rhetorical assertion, followed by evasions of mounting evidence against those assertions.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Only mildly insightful. A rewording of classic right tropes. Skimming is sufficient
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dr. Thomas Sowell has long been one of my favorite authors & scholars; his analysis on issue after issue holds true with a remarkable rate of accuracy.
I’ve read most of his books, but somehow I had not read this wonderful book until recently! I was shocked when I realized it was written 30 years ago!
It’s one thing to get things right after the fact; still another thing to get it right when it is happening! Dr. Sowell manages this beautifully, correctly calling out the predatory tactics of “the anointed” & even predicting the further disastrous consequences that follow the visions’ of the anointed wherever they (and their policies) go. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A masterful analysis. Mr Sowell is a brilliant writer who eloquently can get some tough points across. A must read for anyone trying to understand how far down the rabbit hole are as a modern society
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Almost a lone and singular voice of common sense at the highest intellectual level.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love Dr. Sowell. He keeps things simple and straightforward. Easy to digest content. With brevity he destroys social and economic myths by exposing their lack of supporting evidence.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Still relevant today almost 30 years Later… I’m only sad that it took me this long to listen to it or read it.
