About this audiobook

Every inch of him was molded as if from granite . . . and her blood ran like fire . . .

For centuries, V has waited to awaken from his doomed sleep and reclaim his destiny. But this Dragon King-one among a legion of legendary warriors sworn to protect the human race from darkness-must first find a way to win back his sword. Wield its power. And try not to fall prey to his own illicit desires.

Claire may possess the beauty and soul of a goddess but V knows better than to mess with a mere mortal. Still, he instinctively knows that Claire is The One who can help him regain the use of his sword and restore his place at Dreagan. But if she learns the truth about who-and what-he really is, her memories of him would be erased forever. How can V love Claire truly, madly, deeply . . . and protect her from the forces of fire and darkness that could destroy them both?

If you are looking for a hot and steamy paranormal romance that has just a dash of humor and mystery, then Ignite will be a perfect read for you. Be warned, though, that this book is the fifteenth in a series that must be read in series order to have a true understanding of the overarching storyline as well as the characters that the main characters of this story interact with or reference. At the very least I would recommend that you read book fourteen as this is where Vlad’s background is explained in detail. In this story V has been reunited with his sword, the sword he has spent centuries looking for. Even though he has it now, things are not right because the connection he was expecting was not taking place. V was at a loss because everything he was expecting would happen after he gained his sword had not and to make matters worse, he was in a world that he didn’t really comprehend. The only thing that he did clearly understand was his attraction to a woman that he knew he had no business being interested in. Luckily for him he has friends who had other plans.Claire was a woman who had been unlucky in love but was still on her search for the elusive ‘one.’ Recently, she had followed her best friend when she decided to open a new practice in a different town. Claire had her own ulterior motives for being willing to uproot her entire life and some of them had to do with the men from Dreagan. What came as a surprise to her, though, was the burning attraction that she had for a man known to her only as ‘V’. What V nor Claire had never expected was that their ‘secret’ attraction was not so secret and that their friends were conspiring to bring them together. In the previous book, Dragonfire, there were some major plot additions that were very exciting and with a title like “Ignite” I was expecting this book to deliver…well…more. This book was truly focused on the relationship between V and Claire with very little movement of the overarching storyline. It felt more like a contemporary romance with a large portion being dedicated to discussions of happily ever after, blogging, and online dating. As far as romance goes, Ignite was cute, swoony, and filled with tons of heat. With what I was looking for after the previous book, I was underwhelmed. I am ready for the battles that have been promising to come. This review is based on a complimentary book I received from NetGalley. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.

Not my favorite. Some of Claire’s actions seemed fake and as if she was digging for information against the kings. She was reserved at first then began asking V about details to the kings past. I didn’t like the interactions.

There were some questions answered in this book but a few more were raised! The book was left on a cliff hanger which is unusual for this series. But leaves me anticipating the next book in the series… can’t wait!

Excellent addition to the Dragon Kings- I would not bother listening to this audiobook or reading this book until the next one is released as it is primarily a set up to the next book and a massive cliffhanger!

Requesting this story via NetGalley, I didn't expect it to be a part of a book franchise and was left disappointed with spoilers from previous editions. Furthermore I just couldn't connect with the characters Claire and V nor was I a big fan of their instant love which is a big no-no in my book. Ultimately I didn't find myself liking this as much as I hope and decide it's probably the best to drop it until I catch up with the rest of the series.

Thank you Goodreads and St. Martin's Press for a chance to read Ignite by Donna Grant!

Ignite is the fifteenth book in the Dark Kings series by Donna Grant in a goodreads giveaway. This series is part of the Dark World Universe. You could read this book first but you would miss out on a lot of the back story. You would also miss out on the chance to see (V also known as Vald) and Claire's relationship develop. This truly has become a nice series. It brings to light new faces along with a deeper look into the Dragon Kings and where they come from.

The characters are wonderful. It's nice to read about some of the regular characters and have their story line build. There was a nice cliffhanger at the end of this story so I will definitely be looking forward to the next one. Overall, I was very happy with this book. Happy reading everyone enjoy!!

Ignite by Donna GrantDark Kings #15Donna Grant has created a world that makes her readers want to return, find out what is happening next and then they eagerly await the next book in the series. The only series I have read all of, so far, is The Reapers and having read each and every one of those books I KNOW it well. Sure, some of the other worlds/series/groups might have been mentioned and have impacted The Reapers but it was a group that was easy to follow beginning to end. That said...I did NOT read the other books in the overall series (and looking on Goodreads now I see there are perhaps nearly fifty books total in the overlapping worlds/series). So…* Dark Swords Series: I have not read any of the books in this series so have not a clue what they are about.* Dark Warriors Series: None of those either* Druids Glen Series: Again...not one read by me* Dark Kings: now five of the fifteen* Reapers: all of themNow...it seems, after reading what I have read, this “world” is one populated by beings that are very interesting. They have their own myths and histories that sometimes overlap and create opportunities for interaction. A dragon might sleep for centuries then wake, find a mate and then the two will live happily for centuries together. Or, Druids might supposedly be all gone from the earth...or are they? And, there are light and dark Fae/fairies that impact humans and the rest of the universe(s). I have not a clue about the Warriors and Sword group so have no idea how they might (or might not) fit into what is coming AND...something IS coming. There is a fight that is building and who will be involved and what is at stake is still a bit blurry in my mind. I know that there are “The Others” who are in opposition to the dragons and some others but what their goal is and how they will be thwarted is...a mystery. And so, still unsure what has happened before and wanting to know what will come next and hoping that some of the characters I know already (that have not found their mates) will find a HEA...I will gladly read whatever book comes my way to read in hopes it will lead me to a conclusion for the dragons and all the rest. I mean...wouldn’t it be grand if the dragons sent away all return someday? And there I know I have lost you BECAUSE if you have not read any of these books you won’t have a clue what I am talking about because….This is a series better read from beginning to end (although I have not). This book DID have a short synopsis that I am sure those who have read all books in the series shook their head over and skimmed rapidly and those who have read none of the previous books read and then scratched their heads over wondering what they had missed. And...in the midst of the few mentions of what is happening in this fantasy universe there was a romance. V did meet his mate, Claire, and they had a great romance indeed. They do have a few issues to deal with related to one being a dragon and one being human but otherwise...a great romance to read. I do have a question I hope will be resolved...how will dragons continue if the ones sent away cannot come back or are dead AND if the dragon kings cannot find mates to create progeny for them. Anyway…Did I enjoy this book? YesDo I want to read more in this series? YesDo I wish I had read the series from beginning to end? YesThank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the Arc – This is my honest review. 4 Stars
