About this audiobook

When Daemon Black set out to prove his feelings for Katy, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something Katy will do again and now that they've made it through the rough patches, well, there's a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even Daemon can't protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they loved.

With help coming from the most unlikely source and Adam's death still lingering with those who loved him, friends will become the deadliest of enemies and the villains will no longer be clear. When each step Katy and Daemon take in discovering the truth puts them in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more Katy realizes there is no end to what she's capable of. They won't turn back, even if the outcome will shatter their worlds forever.

Este tercer libro estuvo potente, y solo quiero dejar claro que nunca confíe en el estupido y creepy de Blake.

Me muero por saber hacia donde va esta historia.

I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book. I’ve read the first two in the series in the beginning of the summer and really enjoyed them. But I finally got to this one and it did not disappoint. The majority of this book was the preparation for the showdown and the saving of Beth and Chris. Katy, Daemon, and the other Luxen were all preparing for breaking the others out.

First off let me just say how much I hate both Will and Blake. I know they are the antagonists and part of the DOD problem. But they are just horrible individuals who ruin everyone’s happiness. And throughout this whole book, I wanted my gut feeling about Blake to be wrong. It bothered me that they had this sort of truce with him about breaking into the DOD facility.

Daemon and Katy are so perfect with each other. I absolutely love their interactions. I love that Katy is still a strong, independent character. She does not need Daemon to save her. While he is overly protective of her, he still respects her wishes and still lets her make her own decisions about helping them. I really appreciate how they respect and work with each other, it is refreshing to other novels.

Overall, I really enjoyed this 3rd book and with that ending, I really cannot wait to read Origin. I must know what happens to Katy and how everyone deals with the aftermath of this book.

I love this book series but hate the person they chose to read it. She sounds just like my grandmother. She can’t make her voice sound like a high school girl. It sounds like she calls Daemon demon every time.

Review coming soon; just wanted to get a "wow" in here right now!

Update 1/20/13: I am way behind on my reviews, so it doesn't look like I'll be getting a formal one up for Opal. I did want to say, however, that the "wow" definitely applies and I enjoyed this installment a LOT more than Onyx. The ending was absolutely crazy and left me screaming several bad words since book four isn't due until later this year! Exciting, action-packed, twists/turns, betrayals, romance...and Daemon Black. Incredible.

Katy is right "brutal cliffhangers suck". Why couldn't it end with a sweet cheery cliffhanger, uh? Okay fine it's not a HEA novel but I was so hoping for a not so heart-wrenching end.

Anyways, Opal was not as high-octane as the previous books but it was still a great read. As usual, Armentrout's is such a great storyteller she could probably write about stamp collecting and I would love it. This was more focused on Katy and Daemon's growing relationship and Dawson being back. It's hard to believe that a guy considered a jerk and a bully could be such a sweetheart and a romantic, of course Daemon wouldn't be too happy if that gets out, he does have a reputation to uphold.

Opal might not have the intensity the other books had for me but I see it as more of a sweet love story. There was definitely some action and drama but it was spread throughout the story. Can't wait for the next one.

Always to remember Daemon Black 5 Stars JLA YOU ROCK, for me to love a series and every book in that series says a lot. I usually loose interest in the second book, and feel that the author should have stopped at book one, but with this series I was excited about every book I read, it took me a week to complete this series, and I did not sleep in that period. Daemon - is my ultimate PNR ya and bb, infuriating. Arrogant (What's not to love) ;-), then you have Katy a perfect heroine, strong and do not let anybody tell her what to do she has some insecurities, but not enough to not enjoy this series. I will Highly recommend this series for lovers of PNR. Will I read it again - FUCK YES!!!

This is the third book in the Lux saga, and I must admit it surprised me more than I expected. I won't say it's a marvel or that it has improved radically, but I do recognize that there have been some changes I liked more and that helped make the story more tolerable at certain points.

The plot moves along more briskly after the slowness of the second book, and I feel there is more action, with a lot more promised in the fourth installment after that ending I didn't expect at all. At least not in that exact way. I liked seeing that in this book there is more interaction between the characters and not just a plot centered on the protagonists' jealousy, which was mostly what the second book consisted of.

The characters didn't fascinate me, but I tolerated them more in this book as they don't focus so much on immature jealousy but instead on how they continue to get to know each other within their romance and the interactions they have with other characters. Some conflicts between them are resolved, and they also smooth over rough edges, which I liked more because the second book had so much drama that it became unbearable for me.

The author's writing style has pleased me as always, though I still notice a lack of depth in the characters' emotions, which prevents me from empathizing completely as I would like. Even so, it remains just as enjoyable and entertaining to read, which is exactly what I was looking for with this saga.

In summary, "Opal" is the third book in a saga that, although it is not becoming one of my all-time favorites, is getting a bit more interesting with each installment. The plot of this book gets straight to the point, and more things happen, allowing you to connect more with the situations and the surrounding action. The characters' jealousy takes a backseat, and the romance is explored in a slightly more mature and tender way, allowing you to get to know them better as a couple rather than as two immature people arguing over meaningless jealousy. The ending of the book was thrilling, and although one of my theories was that this would happen, I didn't expect it to occur in the exact way it did, and therefore it managed to surprise me. I didn't dislike the characters in this book, and I tolerated them more, which also allowed me to enjoy some conflicts that are resolved in this third part and that developed in quite an interesting way. Additionally, Daemon's brother has me intrigued, and I want to get to know him a little more in the remaining books. The author's writing still pleases me, although I still notice that lack of depth in many moments where the characters open up emotionally. I feel that everything remains very linear, and that prevents me from connecting as I would like. (Translated from Spanish)

The book that bored me the most from the saga so far was very slow and nothing happened; it kept going in circles, making it repetitive and tedious. What I liked was the interaction between the characters and the evolution of the protagonists. (Translated from Spanish)

In the third book of the Lux saga, the same things happen again, which is why I'm not going to elaborate too much. The plot reaches its key point almost at the end. There are reunions, secrets, betrayals, action, romance, and everything seems great when you start it, but once again, the author insists on condensing everything into just five chapters. I even felt like skipping a few because Katy's actions are quite repetitive; that's what I struggled with the most while reading. There are one or two interesting moments due to the new characters introduced, but almost everything gets left for the conclusion. I also feel that disliking the protagonist makes it impossible for me to move forward; it gets very tedious since everything is narrated from her point of view. Seeing how she does or thinks about things was like, come on, you have it right in front of you, "girl, realize it."

It seems the characters don't learn from their mistakes; just when you think they'll do things differently, they mess up again, which was something that annoyed me. The first time, you can overlook it, but a second or third time is too much. Some attitudes I understand because they're made on impulse; you make a mistake and then face the consequences that follow. But when you analyze it, you reach a conclusion: you know something terrible will happen if it continues in that way, you have other options, and yet you still mess it up—that's just wanting to trip yourself up.

Unbearable—if I had to define Katy in one word, that would be it. Three books have passed, and she remains the same. I truly don’t see any development in her character; she is still the same girl from the first book. Despite everything that has happened, she does not react. Unlike Daemon, who has tried to do things differently, he is still a bit overprotective, I won’t lie, but he makes an effort. I see a lot of potential for his character in the next books; he remains my primary motivation to continue the saga. That and again, the ending has left me intrigued.

In my opinion, it wouldn’t have been difficult for the author to merge the second and third books into one; that way, it would have been perfect. Removing the filler and focusing on what truly matters for the main plot. This is what I mean when I say that she stretches the stories too much. I've read long sagas where it's necessary to have so many books for the development of the world, the plot, or the characters, but here I don’t see it as necessary, considering I still have two more books and the extras to read. And the worst part is that, in the three I’ve read, almost nothing has happened. Let's see how it continues. (Translated from Spanish)

I gave this a generous 2.75 - 3.0 stars. Here is why the 3 stars is generous...

    Spoilers-

First: You can't read this book with any knowledge of science. Not on any level. If you have one this book will destroy it. You have to suspend the theories and laws of science and just go with it. However, it is hard to ignore large plot holes. For example, Blake had built up a large tolerance to the Onyx because he was constantly exposed to it while in custody. Daemon was also in custody for a year undergoing the same types of torture...yet he had no tolerance...at all...zip....

Second: Can't do the perfect guy trope. In this book, Daemon loses his edge and becomes a dream guy whose only calling in life is to love and protect Katy. He is Mr. Romantic Perfection. Nah. PASS!!

Third: Blake has showed you his true colors in the last book. He showed them in this book. He even pulled a creeper move of sneaking into Katy's bedroom while she slept and laid down next to her. I believe he even tried kissing her? That is a bit rapy. Yet...we are still going to trust this guy? Oh wait...ooops...then there is the ending. WOW! DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING AT ALL!!!

Our Twilight moment: Daemon takes Katy to prom.

I am probably going to continue with Origin because the books are (usually) fun and quick reads. The first two were better than this one, so it is my hope it gets better from here. **crossing fingers***

This is the third part of the Lux saga, so there may be spoilers from the previous books.

In this book, the story focuses on Dawson and the support he receives from Daemon and Katy as they try to recover Beth from the hands of Daedalus. Along the way, they encounter Blake, who proposes a plan as tempting as it is risky.

Although there are some combat scenes and such, it seems to me that most of the book stays in the same place. It showcases more of the relationship between Daemon and Katy and their moments together. I wouldn't say it's just filler, because sometimes you appreciate that slowdown in events for the beautiful moments instead of knowing who will be the next to die or be captured. However, I do think it's a longer book than it should be.

Once again, I was quite hooked; it still feels like a light and calm read that is very easy to get through.

I expected the ending; I didn't think the situation would be resolved so easily (Considering there are 2 books left in the saga), and the book ends at a crucial point. (Translated from Spanish)

THE ENDINGS OF THESE BOOKS ARE GOING TO KILL ME! I mean, I don't know what to do with my life, I need to continue it.

I really liked the book, the romance between Daemon and Katy was everything I needed in the previous books, Daemon is divine, I am in love with him. He treats Katy in such a precious way that it just makes me wish for a Daemon of my own. There were many things I liked a lot but others that didn't fully convince me, and that's why I didn't give it 5 stars.

I had never read Jennifer L. Armentrout before but I fell in love, her writing style fascinates me and has made me devour her books very quickly, no matter how long they are. I will definitely keep reading the series because they can't leave me like this! (Translated from Spanish)

This will be difficult because it's a book from my favorite saga, even though it’s 22 years old and is a book for teenagers, I am completely in love with Daemon and the story, I'm still speechless, the book has everything, evolution of the plot, of the characters, damn, it’s a very complete book in all aspects, tender, funny, sincere moments, problems, I am still crying over the ending, those last 19 pages make you suffer, you read everything carefully and in the end, you experience a collapse, I can't write this without being emotional or crying.
I don't know how the writer created this book, and how she made the characters so unique.
I love how in this book the love between Daemon and Kitten becomes stronger, the relationship with Kitten and Dee, all the unexpected events.
I have no words for the book, I don't want you to think that just because it's my favorite saga I'm going to speak well of it, seriously, this book deserves everything (besides the saga). (Translated from Spanish)

Opal, the third installment of this wonderful saga. I loved it just as much as the first two. From the first page to the last, there is no critique to be made. This installment features new characters, new places, a more mature Katy, and clearly the daemon that we all love. It doesn’t have a single millimeter of waste, and I am absolutely sure that the rest of the saga will be just as good. (Translated from Spanish)

    Well color me surprised!
THAT was one hell of an ending, it took me two whole days to wrap my mind around it and be able to sit down and write a review.

This book was a whole lot better than the previous two plot-wise; things got even more twisted up, more and more issues were brought up, a lot of new stuff were discovered and it was really great.
I have even more questions now, than I did when I first started this series. I wanna know what would happen next because whenever something gets fixed, either something else gets screwed up, or a whole new problem appears. And I really like that about this series; it keeps me on my toes and makes me wanna keep reading.

BUT *stage whisper* I bet y'all were waiting for this but
I can't for the life of me stand to read one more line about how perfect Daemon is. Which is exactly why I gave this book a lower rating than the previous one.
Like, alright Katy we get it. Your guys is handsome and powerful and amazing and all the damned good adjectives in the world, you don't need to remind us of that Every. Freaking. Minute.
I tried to be more patient and understanding and crap, but I got sick and tired of that after the billionth time she went on and on and on about how perfect he is.

And what the hell is it with him and ordering everyone around because he thinks he's "protecting" them? Dude, let people make their own choices and be there for them if they need you; don't try to control every aspect of their damned life!

All in all, I think this story is amazing, creative and interesting. And I really wanna know what happens next (I wanna know who would murder that piece of shit called Blake and how bad he'd suffer more specifically) but I need a damned break from Katy and her constant reminding of how perfect Daemon is.

Jennifer continues to surprise us with this saga because just when we thought everything was going to be okay, new threats emerge for the characters, people we believed to be dead but are more alive than ever, a friendship left behind due to loss, and a heart desolate in search of its other half. All of this is surrounded by an atmosphere of uncertainty but with funny moments and filled with sexual tension thanks to Daemon's attitude. In this book, we see a Katy who gradually overcomes her losses and becomes stronger, a Daemon who is a little less egocentric than usual and more caring towards his loved ones, and a Dee and Dawson lost in their pain who struggle to leave everything behind and find a way to move forward. They all have one purpose: to help Dawson...recover Beth, even if it means putting themselves in danger. This saga has become one of my favorites, and that's why I highly recommend it, and I am looking forward to reading the next one. (Translated from Spanish)

Great series but not for young teens

While I did like this story and characters a lot, it was not for a young audience. The language and detailed descriptions of the relationships in the book were not appropriate for a young audience.
