About this audiobook

The people we love are thieves. They steal our hearts. They steal our breath. They steal our sanity. And we let them. Over and over and over again.

They say you never forget your first love.

Mine was a homeless musician who wandered straight into my soul.

He was my first everything. And fourteen years later, I still can't get him out of my head.

He broke all my rules. He also broke my heart.

I watched him climb to stardom, cheering him on from afar. But I was never a fan; just a girl in love.

Like a tornado, he spiraled, leaving a path of destruction in his wake.

But love conquers all, right? It has to. Because here I stand, ravaged and ruined, needing it to be true.

We can't go back, but I want to. Back to the park. Back to when he sang only for me. Before he was famous. Before he shattered my heart.

I thought I knew everything about him. But I could not have been more wrong.

He promised me every tomorrow. And here I am, waiting.

And hoping.

Again.

Contains mature themes.

This book really had me emotionally hooked from start to finish. I have dated a Blue. Had a child with him. Been through the illness with him and now our daughter. Some parts are things I could critique but overall this book was amazing! I loved the male narrator's voice. Unfortunately he doesn't have many parts.

    2 stars for effort!

I love this author's books, particularly Torn and Tied and the Ember and Ashes series, but this one .... seriously yuck!!

I DNFd after five hours listening to the monotonous drone of Jillian Macie's narration.

I was disgusted by their first secksual encounter, and I just didn't buy it. It was so unbelievable for a naive virgin, who seemed to be frightened of life, to find herself seriously f*cked by a homeless guy in the middle of the night under a bridge. Seriously?!! Not to mention the possible physical hazards of potential grape but no birth control, potential STDs and the stink of it all! Seriously bad news!!

After this encounter, I simply couldn't warm to either Blue or Piper, and frankly, once I knew I couldn't care less about either of them, I saw no point in continuing.

Such a shame, but life is too short to waste on an overlong book about drivel!

    emotional roller coaster

    4 LadyBugs ????

An emotional roller coaster and deep. A Slow burn at times with a lot of steam and heartbreak.

“You don’t apologize, Piper. Not for any of this. And you are strong. You’re the strongest chick I’ve ever met. A weak woman would never be able to love me. You’re a f***in’ warrior.”

At times I loved the main characters and at I struggled with them.
Blue/ Evan is steer musician and Piper is the good girl that has her world and heart wrenched open to things she never imagined possible.
Blue was so tortured. I felt for him and only wish there was speedier way for his suffering and Piper’s to be resolved.
A couple year ago I would applaud her undying love for Blue, but I felt irritated with her putting him and his needs first on a few occasions.
Blue did make up for a lot of the time he was away from Piper’s life. It was impossible not love him.

TW: drug abuse, suicidal ideation, miscarriage, mental illness*

I don’t necessarily think mental illness is a Trigger Warning but it’s a huge part of the story- it’s messy with toxic codependency traits at times.

Wow that was deep and I’m spent! I don’t think I’ve been so emotionally engrossed in a book. The author did a great job of writing such a great story, all while addressing mental illness, and the narrators were amazing! Have some Kleenex ready!

Not the best audio or story. Toxic relationship maskerading as epic love story. Plus, I didn't really like the narrator.

Wow! This book is something else. It packs quite the emotional punch. Blue/Evan is an interesting, exciting mix of lovable and chaotic; and Piper is a strong, worthy heroine. The narration is excellent. The length of the audio book might seem daunting, but I think it's worth the time. Well done to all the contributors on this one.

What a whirlwind! When I first saw how long the book was I almost didn’t listen but honestly it was one her best books so far. I love how you write with such honesty and vulnerability and just about real struggles that most don’t talk or admit too. I so wanted more of the ending I didn’t want it to stop. Thank you for making this relatable and not just rainbows and butterflies which is not realistic. I so want to write more in the post but don’t want to give away anything for those who haven’t read it yet. So glad I came across your original series and now onto your next book.

Victor, the "assassin" is asked to protect one of his past Russian Mafia client's daughter, who lives in London and is under threat. First Victor has to find her, then protect her from shadowy rogue elements of the British security services. Fast paced action in short chapters keeps you engaged, despite the somewhat far fetched nature of Victor's "interactions" with the villains.

The best of the series so far.
