Christians will find this thinly veiled allegory (with characters such as "Bob Moses" and "Joshua Nunn" set in Bethany, Pennsylvania at the center of which is a controversy over "Jericho Park") entertaining if not a bit too obvious, but the book could have real impact if read by non-believers with questions about what makes the born-again Christian tick. I enjoyed it and will be recommending it to my sister.

In On Every side, we meet Jordan Riley, a lawyer who tries to get a statue of Jesus removed from a park in the town where he once lived. He is tormented by childhood traumas and his belief that God abandoned him. During his attempt to remove the statue, he becomes reacquainted with his childhood love, Faith Evans. Faith is now a TV news anchor who struggles with balancing her own freedom of religion and speech with the need to be objective in the news. Jordan and Riley are on two different sides of this issue. Can they come together and find the right solution for the town? This book under the umbrella of romance brings the ever complicated central issues of Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, and censorship to the fore-front in a Christian-like light. Those who read it will probably hate it or like it depending on the side the take on these issues when they first start reading. I doubt there will be much middle ground. However, whichever way you feel, it makes valuable points about the nature of religion and society in today’s world.
