About this audiobook

Chelsea Morris has always been responsible, dependable, and focused on her dreams of fashion design—a dream that will officially begin come fall, when she leaves for college in New York City. And as she settles into her role as the lead designer for the local summer stock theater group, she decides to make the most of her last summer in North Carolina. But with her best friend Emily busy working late and spending time with Zander, and tensions with Chelsea’s boyfriend, Todd, running high, the summer she envisioned seems to be falling flat.

Then Dylan joins the latest summer production. There’s something about the college boy that makes her feel free and alive, and soon she’s broken up with Todd, and is sneaking out late to meet Dylan at parties and breaking rules at the playhouse. But before she knows it, her exciting nights are interfering with her job, her role on the play, as well as her relationship with Emily and with her parents. Worse, Chelsea finds herself feeling more and more estranged from God.

As the summer becomes wilder than she ever dreamed, Chelsea must decide if her heart is leading her in the right direction after all.

This book could be a “what NOT to do” manual for teens who have graduated high school. Chelsea did everything that anyone with half a working brain would not do. She went to late night parties with underage drinking. She got drunk. She missed work. She was lax in getting her costumes for a community play finished. She lied to her parents. She blew off her boyfriend for the hopes of dating someone else. She got into a car with a drunk driver. She ignored good advice. It’s a miracle she survived the summer! If you could ignore the stupidity of the main character, then you could say the writing itself was good, or at least, the religious aspect was well written. But really, I expected more from this book. It was an extra large serving of teenage recklessness smothered with angst. The first book in the series was by far the best; don’t bother with the other two.

The main girl is very immature for her age. She can't hold a job or a boyfriend and her faith is non-existent. Out of nowhere she decides to party and stay out half the night getting drunk. Run, Todd, run, as fast as possible.

Amy Clipston's writing is very fluid and hard to put down because you want to know what happens next.

It is the last summer before Chelsea and Todd begin college. Chelsea envisions spending time with Todd, but their work schedules and theater schedules seem to be puling them apart. Chelsea meets Dylan on the set of Grease, which she is the head costumer and finds herself led to him. Immediately, Todd dislikes Dylan, which causes Chelsea to pull further away from him, because she sees Dylan as a friend and a fun guy.

It seems like Todd and Chelsea are destined to break up....and Dylan seems like he might just be the perfect replacement...or is he?

This book touches on several teen issues: underage drinking, peer pressure, drinking and driving
