About this audiobook

What if the Legends Are True?

Jason Masters doubted the myths that told of people taken through a portal to another realm and enslaved by dragons. But when he receives a cryptic message from his missing brother, he must uncover the truth and find the portal before it’s too late. At the same time, Koren, a slave in the dragons’ realm, discovers she has a gift that could either save or help doom her people. As Jason and Koren work to rescue the enslaved humans, a mystic prophecy surrounding a black egg may make all their efforts futile.

It's not a bad fantasy adventure, but lots of it just isn't all that amazing. Aside from Arxad, most of the characters aren't all that interesting and full of depth. I do like Jason and Koren, and Elyssa's not bad, but they are rather one-dimensional. Tibalt and Randall are too, but they're so much fun and awesome that it's okay. Besides, they're secondary characters, so I can cut them some slack.Lots of the adventure and puzzles and stuff seemed kind of...pointless. I didn't really follow all the mess of them falling down the hole and the river and the portal and everything. It all felt very far-fetched, and I guess I was expecting a little more realism from the book. The character interactions are also a little strange. Most of the time they don't seem very smart, like when Elyssa sends Jason out to die and yet has a plan to stop the flooding. Why not wait until she tried her plan? Little things like that get me, where the solution seems so simple and instead of doing it all the characters make things more complicated instead. That's basically what the book was: complicated, when the solution could've been simpler. The problems seemed too easily solved and yet it was a complicated mess.I will say that the Black Egg gives me the creeps. There were times when I was unsure if it was good or bad, and then I would reassure myself as Koren reassured herself. That was very well done.

I am usually really good at picking out books that I know I will like. So when I found myself having a hard time getting into this book I was upset. I really want to like it but I found that I just could not.The plot for one moved to slow for me and it was a bit confusing. As soon as you started the book, you were thrown into the story with hardly no back round on the legends on the Dragons. You learn secrets but all of it was cryptic. I had a hard time relating to Jason the character whom we follow in the book. Jason is younger and is pretty much kept in the dark about things.Even now I have a hard time writing this review because I really wanted to like it. But in the end this book is just not for me.

Finally a book for adults! When Adrian went off on his adventure in the beginning of Starlighter I really wanted to know what happened to him, and now I get my wish. Plus this books deals with adult characters which I appreciate. I am nineteen years old, which still puts me in the category of teenager but also legal adult and I still enjoy reading books for teenagers, but I begin to feel old when the heroes of the story are fifteen and sixteen, who says once you hit twenty-five you can’t have fun? As an older reader I appreciate having characters closer to my age that still go on the sword swinging, dragon riding adventures that I have always loved.

Attention fantasy lovers, this is a new series that you will likely enjoy! It has a lot of the best things you can ask for in a fantasy novel, lots of action, great characters and a adventure. There was even a little romance thrown in to spice it up.I have to say, I fell in love with one character, Koren. There was something about her right from the beginning that had me captured, and at first I couldn't place what that was. The more I read, the more it became clear, she was the true star of the book.A really great read for people of all ages, though it is a young adult book geared to teens.I want to add this is book one in a series, though the series is new and not named in the book. I think it is one to watch out for!I have to recommend this story, it was awesome!
