I've enjoyed most of Ms. Anderson's historical books, but this one felt like parts of her other books and characters merged into a rough draft. Between the Comancheros, the heroine who corrects the hero's vocabulary, living in the Indian encampment, and other familiar scenarios, I felt more like I was rereading rather than perusing a new book. As a result, I felt like parts of the story were missing. It's okay, but not her best work.
