About this audiobook
A sighting of a woman who supposedly died years ago sparks a desperate search for the truth in this breakout suspense thriller, perfect for readers of The Good Girl and The Widow.
Sometimes we choose to see only what we want. Sometimes what we see changes the way we look at everything
Jarlath "Jar" Costello's girlfriend, Rosa, committed suicide when they were both students at Cambridge, and Jar has thought about her every day since. It's been five years, yet Jar is still obsessed with the idea that Rosa, the one true love of his life, is alive. He's tormented by disturbingly real sightings of herexperiences the psychologist treating him describes as "post-bereavement hallucinations."
When Jar receives a message from Rosa's aunt telling him that she's found Rosa's diary, he embarks on a frantic quest to finally make sense of the highly suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. But the deeper he digs, the more confused he becomes as he is pressed into a dark underworld where nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted. When a startling discovery convinces him more than ever that these are not just hallucinationsthat Rosa really is aliveJar is thrust into the heart of a larger intrigue that may finally shed some light on Rosa's death even as it dangerously threatens his own life.

I enjoyed the Last Thing She Remembers by this same author, and went directly to this for more. However, I’ve stopped listening a couple of hours from the end. A number of descriptions of horrible torture started— I’m just not willing to have those images run through my brain. The story was intriguing, but anyone who is creeped out by stuff like that may want to skip it. I’m now going to try to forget what I just heard! - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5

It's a book with a rather twisted story. I like the tactic of going back and forth in time, which makes you really pay attention to the reading so you don't miss anything. I liked the plot at the beginning. When it twisted the fate of the story and detailed situations of animal torture (which made me aware that it is real, that it happens, and is painful for those of us who love animals), I stopped liking it. It's not a book I would recommend. I think I will lend it and hope I don't get it back. (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5

I chose the book because the title seemed attractive to me; however, as I progressed in the reading, my disappointment grew. The crux of the argument is the disappearance of a young woman and her boyfriend's insistence on finding her. It really turns into a jumble of doubts and questions with a dose of decadent espionage that is boring. I was let down. I made an effort to finish it. Excellent thriller by Monroe. Suspense accompanied by espionage. Unexpected twists. It is very clever, I finished it in just a few days, without sleeping at night. Exciting ending. I recommend it a thousand times. ✨ (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

PERSONAL OPINION:
This is a book I was really looking forward to since I saw its cover and read the synopsis. This genre excites me, I had very high expectations for this book from the beginning but I have been somewhat disappointed. I initially thought I would give it 3 stars, but I ended up settling on 2.5, and I will explain why.
In "Búscame" we find a story divided into two parts and told from three perspectives: Jar (Rosa's boyfriend), Rosa (the girl who disappears) through her diary, and Martin (Rosa's uncle) also through his diary. I found this proposal very original and I liked it, but there comes a point where it gets confusing (mainly in the second part) as there is no indication at the beginning of each chapter about which character is telling the story, and sometimes (at least for me) I got lost. I must also say that the author, in my opinion, provides too much information, giving excessive explanations and descriptions of everything, which sometimes took me out of the situation and diminished the excitement of what was happening. I would have eliminated many pages that I consider unnecessary; they make the reading quite heavy.
It's a story that keeps you intrigued the whole time but unfolds very slowly, for the reasons I mentioned earlier. For me, the story has many ups and downs; the only moments I found myself hooked and couldn't stop reading were at the end of the first part and at the end of the second part, even though the ending is predictable (at least I sensed it around page 250 approximately, and it has 413 pages including the acknowledgments), it kept me in suspense to see how the ending developed.
As for characters, I didn't have a favorite in this book, nor one I could identify or relate to. However, I must say I hadn’t hated a character as much in a long time, and that is Martin; he is detestable, reading about him made me want to kill him, truly, he is the protagonist of some pretty intense scenes in the story.
Despite not having loved it, it’s not a book I would reread; it is a good book and the plot is different. I wouldn’t recommend it right off the bat, but it may appeal to you if you are a fan of this genre despite what I mentioned.
Finally, I would comment that, in my opinion, this book could have a cinematic adaptation. While I didn't enjoy it to the fullest, I have to say that as I read, I saw it as a book that, if approached properly, could make a good movie. (Translated from Spanish)
