    Gordon Charles Zahn (1918-2007) was an American author, sociologist, pacifist, and professor who was a conscientious objector during World War II. After receiving his PhD from The Catholic University of America, he taught at Loyola University. The author of numerous book and articles, he focused on the topics of conscience and war.

      Men and women of conscience, born by a deep and living faith, should resist any earthly force that requires you to contradict your conscience and faith. Resistance even unto death. This book was a biography and timeline of a relatively modern person who did just that. If this same resistance could be done thousands of times by thousands of people, the world likely would be a very different place. In conjunction with this I would recommend Tolstoy's The Kingdom of God is Within You
